One of the greatest songs of the eighties. Brings me back to my highschool days. Midge Ure is a great Singer

One of the biggest hits of the 80's and still one hell of a song that stood the test of time. They had great albums, several hits but this has to be the biggest hit they had. This was a great time in music tbh, we got spoiled with acts like Ultravox, the Police, Blondie, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, Talking Heads, Genesis, Queen, Pat Benatar, and so on, great time in music to say the least. You've got so many gems to uncover still, gonna be a fun ride seeing you explore them :D

One of the influences on this video was a movie called The Third Man, about espionage in Vienna and other places.

One of my favourite old music. So nice to hear again. Reminds me of the Top 40 on the radio each week. First to the shop to pick a free Top 40 list on paper. Then anxious for hours by the radio with a cassetteplayer to put the record button on time without talking of the dj. And so each week having the latest music on casette on my bedroom. 😀😀😀😁 You become tired now by only thinking of it!🙄🤣

Every time I hear this song now it brings me to tears. One reason, Hannah Baker. If you know the name, you know what I am referring too.

I think this is a homage to the spy film "The Third Man" which was based in Vienna. This holds the record for longest (and probably the best selling) #2 hit in the UK charts. The lead singer (Midge Ure) was one of the main organisers of Live Aid in 1985 along with Bob Geldof after their charity #1 "Do they know its Christmas".

Oh my Lord lol In my top 10 play list MIDGE URE at his very best. 1980 ULTRAVOX I grew up on unique individual brilliant music like this. He went on to be a legend with BOB GELDOF. Absolutely awesome thanks

Ultravox was a British band, half of the video was shot in different locations in and around London if I'm not mistaken.

Midge Ure, the lead singer for Ultravox, did most of the leg-work for Band-Aid back in the day - yet Bob Geldof got the credit!!!? Such an interesting person! Ultravox's song "Visions In Blue" was my vocal exam song. Don't know if you could react to the music video but you can listen to it! (btw I passed the exam!) edit - Vienna in the 80's was full of spies - CIA, KGB, MI5, ASIS, ASIO, Mossad, Mossad, Mossad! LOL!

I truly appreciate you from the bottom my heart. Congrats on passing your vocal exam!! Send me the link to music video and I will get it on the request list. I will just need you to have patience because the list is long. I can promise I will get you that reaction. Here are the best ways to get it to me directly no matter what way you choose. ko-fi.com/highlycombustiblereacts bit.ly/RequestHXC Much love to you!

@@HighlyCombustibleReacts The official video has partial nudity, Might want to see the first 60 seconds to decide. Midge looks very different in 2010 than in 1983!

Technically, it is a music video, but but at their height music videos were little movies. Sometimes with a story that fit the lyrics, but sometimes with a story of their own. I have never seen this music video, though. I know the song from back in the 80s and I've seen it on KZbin as live performances by Ultravox, but the video was new to me. I have to admit, I don't know what was going on, but that happens to me with a lot of video. I consider them art and you don't always know what the artist was trying to tell you and I can live with that.

This video was what all music artists wanted their videos to be like, to tell a story! Midge was the first! ❤

Whilst this is an iconic video, combining the themes of spies in Vienna with surrealist New Romanticism, it’s not a highlight of the Ultravox back catalogue. In fact it’s hard NOT to find an Ultravox song that isn’t a work of genius.
