Ultrawide Monitors: Are They Better For Racing?

BenQ have sent me their EX3415R ultrawide monitor, which is designed around racing games. Is it really better?

Since the screen isn’t actually much wider than the original (just has a wider aspect ratio compared to height) you’d probably be best tweaking the fov and camera height to compensate. If you ran a wider fov on the old screen you’ll get a similar effect. By running too wide of a fov you’ll have a harder time picking out track markers

I think UW is a good compromise from triple screen if your gpu cant handle three output displays. Decent fov if you're one of those fov police as well 😁

It probably "feels" faster than the older monitor because of the lower input lag.😊

Nice video mate. Maybe you could of mentioned the 21:9 aspect ratio only works for pc games. As xbox one/series s + x and playstation 4/5 don't support this. Keep it up.

probably not much advantage with that camera angle. you'll still see more but personal preference tbh.. if your current monitor works well for you then just stick with it imo

I really want ultrawide 34 inch monitor for PS4 Pro and f1 2021. Is this even possible without the black bars? I saw youtube videos where there are no black bars on console with the 34 ultrawide monitors.

I have a 49'' ultrawide and it worked lovely with the cockpit cam in F1 2020. what bothers me is that the F1 2021 game does not stretch to suit it in the car like F1 2020 did. I have tried everything that i can. it gives me alot of visual bugs and artifacts. So i've had to opt to play in windowed mode at a normal resolution. the native resolution of this monitor is 5120x1440. It's fine though. I play t-pod cam in windowed mode and then I can have other stuff at either side of the game screen like a browser or the chat if I'm streaming. I don't regret purchasing it however I feel like maybe a 34'' would've been better for the rig and use the 49'' for the desk space instead. Maybe I'll switch in the future!

It's definitely possible on most games, F1 included, but it's just an extra stress that I don't need while streaming / creating content, I already make enough mistakes 😂
