Uluru - the other bucket list trip! (plus Kata Tjuta and the Yulura Resort)

While we were in the area, we decided to see Uluru, as I'd not done it yet. Splashing out on two nights at the Sails in the Desert Hotel in Yulara, we set out to walk around Kata Tjuta then Uluru. But what's the resort like? How much of a tourist trap is it exactly?
Plus, one weird trick to look quite a bit smarter than everyone else on the way in...

After a week of bush camping, the highlight of Uluru for my boys was seeing the mobile phone tower from the lookout. Lover the commentary.

I love lightning and thunderstorms in Uluru and watch it safe in Yulara

Yeah, I think it'd be a little nicer to watch in Yulara than outdoors getting wet... though it'd be spectacular nonetheless.

I hadn't heard of Kata Tjuta before, but it looks amazing. Would love to visit someday. "While the CSR is the once in a lifetime bucket list trip for many 4WDers, for a lot of the normal population it's to see Uluru" -> What are you implying about 4WDers with that distinction? ;)

Do you see any summer lightning storms in Uluru Ayers Rock and the Kata Tjuṯa The Olgas and be careful to do any activity safe during the summer monsoon season. Yulara is one of the eras to watch the lightning storms when it rains and be safe during the summer thunderstorm activity.

We weren't there during the summer season so it wasn't really raining - but I imagine it'd be pretty spectacular to watch!
