My DX-17 should arrive today and I like to teardown any new air gun, clean, maybe de-burr and re-lubricate it with silicone oil and grease depending on the mechanics and also oil any steel that is not near O-rings or air chambers with Hoppes. But honestly the re-assembly of the DX-17 looks like quite a fidgety effort so I might need to build up the courage and watch this a few times before I decide to attempt this. Maybe just for the challenge of it, eh? At least then you know your air guns are in top shape and lubed properly .. whether a cheap or an expensive one.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I tore down my DX17 purely for the making of this video and would not do so otherwise.

@@rustbeltairgun8718 I've had mine a week or so now and put metal and plastic bbs through it. I'm fond of it now. It's nice to have something low power you can shoot in the house with no worries. It has nice weight balance and solidness to it. Nice size. Nice sights. Fun to cock it and shoot it. Well built. The slide is really nice aluminum. A very unique little air pistol and very very good value for the $27 I paid. I'm unlikely to tear it down. I've got a number of other air projectile devices that need work, mods and accessories to keep me busy. If you have guests over and like to plink, the DX-17 might be a good one to have a pair of. Nice cheap ones like this I usually get two of. Cheers.

Glad that the plastic BBs worked! I believe the manual only specifies Steel BBs and Pellets.
@maxhauler2 жыл бұрын
@@rustbeltairgun8718 The plastic BBs do not work as well as the metal ones because a small magnet helps to pull and hold the BB in place. With the plastic BBs, you need to shake/angle the DX-17 a bit more to get the BB into place. The plastic BBs move around slightly in the breech, but do not fall out of the barrel. Maybe 1 out of 10 you think you have one in the breech and there was none. And also the plastic BBs can actually dent your walls slightly since they do accellerate to going pretty fast and are dense enough to carry some energy. But the ASG plastic .177 BBs are definitly a fun option to use indoors sometimes. I enjoy having a variety of projectiles to experiment with.

Greetings John, as I said in the Marksman G10 tear down comments; i’m really enjoying your channel. Later this week I am purchasing either, the G1018….. or the Umarex DX17….. they’re currently a very similar price due to black Friday offers…. in your opinion would you say they’re both good …. or is one better than the other??…. many thanks

@rustbeltairgun87189 ай бұрын
Pell Gun Oil is specifically designed for air gun use. Other oils of different viscosities may cause issues or damage your air gun. Besides, Pell Gun Oil is cheap: $4

Through the magic of video editing, you missed all the outtakes of me cursing when the spring hit me in the fingers and all the parts flew. There is a semi-circle piece of metal that holds the spring in place while in the frame.

Can I strech the springs making them tenser seems a matter of logic
@rustbeltairgun87183 жыл бұрын
I don't believe so, I believe the springs are bent in helical fashion then tempered in order to harden and to maintain shape. Stretching may just cause it to snap.

mine broke after 200-300 shots.... the slide got more hard to push back into battery in the last 50 shots and as i pulled the slide back suddenly the slide broke internally and cant be pushed in again... this is not normal, so i contacted the airgun dealer, so they offerd me to send it back to them for repair, but it looks to broken to be fixed even though i sendt them a videoclip of the malfunction in question, so i guess they will just send me a new one.... ive only had it for a week this must sure go under warrenty , like in norway btw

@rustbeltairgun87183 жыл бұрын
It is not easy keeping all of the springs in place during reassembly. I would only recommend tearing down if there is a problem AND if it is not under warranty. A CO2 powered air pistol is easier to tear down and reassemble.
