To my fellow Georgia fans bellyaching about this game, if you haven't learned by now that Kirby uses these types of games against overmatched opponents like a live scrimmage, then you probably have not been paying attention. The team most likely did very little prep work during the practice week for UMass, focusing mostly on fundamentals and allowing lots of kids to play in the game while resting those who have earned rest and/or who may be suffering from a few bumps and bruises. Plus, defensively we played a very base defense against UMass, very few twists/stunts/blitzing. Relax, Carson is doing a better job protecting the football plus we are getting healthy. We have as good a chance as anyone to win the National Championship in spite of the fact that the year has not been completely satisfying.

@@audoko82everything you said is true. What I'm saying is when Kirby plays vastly outmatched opponents, conveniential play calling ist always first priority. UMass was never in position to win this football game, even with conventional play calling being tossed out the window in service of resting a few injured players and getting a few bench players a few added game reps. Kirby knows this team, including the defense, and what it can and cannot do because he sees it everyday in practice.

Georgia was never losing this game. Heck, Georgia was never winning by any less than the 38 points they won by. That said, if I'm Kirby Smart, I'm letting my defense absolutely HAVE IT this week. I don't care if they were never going to lose, giving up 21 to UMass is not acceptable. Even Buffalo held them to 3. This doesn't happen with this team unless your players weren't taking the game seriously. And if you don't take every game seriously, you shouldn't be playing. Doesn't matter if you're up against Alabama or East Cupcake State.
