Umbridge is sickening in both the books and the movies...but Imelda Staunton took the sickening vibe and amplified it with her mad skills. Thing is, there are many people in government on both sides of the pond that are waaay too similar to Umbridge in terms of "wanting to protect the children," covering their rear ends and lying outright to their constituents, which Ms Rowling made evident with the Ministry of Magic. Therefore Madam Staunton had many real life sources to study. If Umbridge the character was an O.W.L. exam, Imelda Staunton aced it.

I've met Imelda Staunton in a book store in London few years ago. She was nice enough for me to just shake hands with her, take a picture together and I told her that I'm a fan and I politely said to her "I hate you in Harry Potter" she laughed hard when I said that to her, she responded "I know, I hate Umbridge too". Yes Imelda hates Umbridge as much as we all do 😂😂 She's a nice person irl, i enjoyed meeting her for just about 5 minutes. I hope i get to see her again someday 🤗
