Boon Mix: 1/3 Akadama, 1/3 pumice, and 1/3 scoria

What soil mix doi you use? Fertilizer?

I used Boon's mix as it works well for me. You probably will need to do some testing to see what works well for you. Fertilizer whatever i can get my hands on cheap. Any fertilizer is better than nothing.

1:1:1 akadama, pumice, scoria. It’s a bit free draining but shows the best results overall

Tom, do you have any advice about propagating cuttings? Best time of year? Do you have any Ume for sale? ... Cliff

I do not have the facilities for propagating. They do need some specialized conditions to be successful. Not something you can set and forget in my case. I believe you want second year grow wood. I know airlayer works if you have a larger tree. And no i currently do not have any Umes for sale.I'm still trying to make a collection of the different types.
