Superb. It's almost like the conductor used to direct the Marine Band or something...

This song 🎶 brings back so many amazing memories. I had the honor and privilege to play the euphonium solos during a European tour the summer of 1985 with the Greater Milwaukee Youth Wind Ensemble. It was perhaps one the greatest experiences of my life. We played in some amazing venues, including Salsbury Cathedral and town squares in Belgium. I still get chills thinking about this experience 40 years later 😊.

Well I see the Colonel from the President's Own has found a new home. I always like the way he interprets Holst and Grainger, Sousa, too. . I don't what his new title is But I wish him all the best taking the Michigan Symphonic Band to new heights in their performances.

Very nice solo playing. Especially the euphonium in the first mvmt. Beautiful tone and phrasing.

Great sounding! Im curious. Is this an ensemble with the intent to have only one per part? It seems sparse. Just curious :D

He is the formal director of the President’ own, US marine band.

Fennell recorded this with only one on a part, both at Eastman and again with Cleveland.

No one has answered your question but it's one on a part because when Holst wrote this for military bands, they were one on a part back in the day. The band is much bigger but they are playing this piece with the idea Holst had in mind when writing it.

Nice to hear the snare clearly. On some other recordings, it's like no drummer is even in the band.
