Umidigi S5 Pro Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro: Is The S5 Worth It?

I have a Redmi Note 9S on the way. 6GB Ram/128GB Rom. Snap Dragon 720G. I was told I would really like it.

The downside of this phone might be camera sensor (again). Hoping that Umidigi will improve on this matter.

In my opinion. The Umidigi is the better buy right now, though it might be more costly than the Note 8 Pro which has gone down in price. Getting more RAM and Storage, A bigger battery, A notchless (if you care for it) AMOLED 1080p display, Global 4g bands and so much more are worth it in my opinion. You might just have to deal with a slow fingerprint reader (because it's optical) but software updates can improve that and camera quality might be above average but I doubt the typical person that comes across this photos will notice that they're not flagship (S20, iPhone 11) grade.

@@ChristLoverTech Software updates with Umidigi are very rare they usually launch a product, shortly thereafter they release a software update with critical bug fixes and then that's all she wrote, you'll never see any more updates for that model. At least that is my experience with two Umidigi models already.

This could be good phone, but it is not supported by AT&T and, probably other major US carriers. It works as a tablet on 4G, but can make a calls only on 3G. AT&T will not support 3G after Feb 2022. The reason that it can activate VOLTE only for the phones from their list. Be aware. All cheap Chinese phone will not work soon! And their tech support is complete junk! I got only automated responses on my inquires and finally ticket was voluntary closed without any resolution. Spend a bit more money and buy brand name phone.

Interesting... I thought for sure unlocked phones wouldn't be affected by this Especially the Umidigi that uses VOLTE

What is the deal with all these umidigi phones that do not FAST CHARGE unless using the original charger that came with phone. So if u loose the charger u have to stick to regular slow charging , and these batteries are huge , not fun. All the Qualcomm 3.0 chargers 18w are not FAST CHARGING this device. And nobody is speaking on this , been dealing with this since the F1.

I haven't used an external charger with my F1 so I haven't experienced this. But I'll try and look into it. Are you sure that the charger you tried is rated for 18W? Another thing I guess might be causing this is: QUALCOMM'S tech won't likely work on a MEDIATEK chip which is what most Umidigi phones have. Try a different charging brick.
