At the moment Battler held on to her, he truly understood her heart. He fulfilled his promise that he would understand her. And from that moment, that moment of complete and total understanding, they could not be separated. So even though Battler's physical form survived, the Battler we know really did drown with Beato that day.

Arettee my theory is like this: His soul split apart. One drowned with beato, the other remained in his body. Both incomplete and lacking memories, as shown in the manga. At the halloween party in fukuin house his soul became complete again, the left Part leaving battlers body.

@@blankuchan4394 Yes. Battler stoped "being". Even if that body had his memories, Battler no longer existed nor that body accpted Battler nor Battler accepted that body, he went with Beatrice. Toya was born and took over the body. Toya never accepted Battler even after unlocking all his memories and that is it. Toya and Battler are as different as Shannon and Kannon, maybe they are on the same body, but will never be the same person. You could think is mental fuckery, and I agree, but in the other hand, the sense of identity is that weird even on real humans. IF a person cant accept their alter egothey have to separate from it.

I sobbed so fucking hard when he opened his eyes and Beatrice wasn't there. That and the illusion of Battler grabbing her after he had started to surface was probably just a hallucination of hers as she slowly lost her consciousness. I'm glad that was her last moments, being held by the one she loved.
@fairamano61654 жыл бұрын
Super late reply, but I'm pretty sure that was the actual Battler. The hint to follow was when Tohya mentioned "I think my boat capsized" (remember he had amnesia, so the details are hazy). Having Battler realize that she had jumped would naturally force Battler to do the same with the goal of saving her, or in this case, die with her. When they sank down, one could imagine that he passed out and floated back up, and was able to survive. Beatrice sank because of the gold she had tied to her leg, and died. It makes sense and doesn't interfere with anything people consider "real" or whatever. Also, it helps to give even more impact to the scene, because, really, who would want this to be a hallucination? Haha. At least the couple "die" together.

There’s some argument to be made that Yasuda survived and took the identity Ikuko. Part of the evidence is wordplay in Ikuko’s name-apparently the kanji hold the number “19”, which we know was significant to Yasuda. It explains how this random woman happened to find Yasuda’s confession. It explains why Ikuko went to all the trouble of having Tohya treated discreetly instead of trying to find his family. It explains how Ikuko knew about the bank PIN and the smashed Chiesta Sister. Nothing we know about Ikuko contradicts the possibility she’s Yasuda. We only have Ikuko’s testimony that she is an outcast from a wealthy family. Everything we’ve seen can be explained by the gold. Kinzo was involved in housing and even kept Castiglioni in a mansion on the mainland for a time. Ikuko’s sprite in the artwork doesn’t have cleavage. Ikuko being Yasuda gives Ikuko a stronger connection to the plot than simply being some random woman. I’ve heard the objection that Yasuda’s survival goes against the the theme of her story; that Yasuda was a person who closed off any possibility for happiness through her own actions and inactions. My response is that the finale of Umineko is about accepting tragedy and letting go of heartache. Battler himself begged Yasuda to live on, when they were on the boat. Besides, if Battler had grabbed Yasuda and pulled them both to safety, I think Yasuda would be concerned with saving Battler. I see nothing out-of-theme with Umineko or out-of-character for Yasuda to try living if the result of their attempted drowning is Battler taking serious injuries in the process of saving them.
@sobbuh3378 Жыл бұрын

Hope you, guys, understand that this is not the Ending. It's just the beginning of their META-wold story. So, for you to know the course of events: 1) Ushiromiya family comes to the island where they are all killed by Kyrie and Rudolf (they are later killed by Eva) 2) They only survivors are Eva who escapes to Kuwadorian and later found by the police, Beatrice and Battler who finds Beatrice (YasuShannonKanon) in the submarine base, who tells him everything about the story (of her being male ShannonKanonYasuKinzo'sSonAndBattler'sUncle, of Kyrie and Rudolf, of her sins which are actually just letters which contain different variations of the events on the island and etc.)They decide to escape together. 3) Beatrice kisses him and jumps into the sea in order to suicide. Battler jumps for her, but falls unconscious as he reaches her. His body goes to the sea shore and is later found by Ikuko. 4) That's how their story, the story of the 1st game (according to manga which was confirmed by Ryukishi was trustworthy) begins. Their minds separate from their bodies and they go to abyss together. But eventually this abyss turns out to be META-world, the eternal chessboard. They both appear in their usual play-room, where Beatrice is not male or something, Beatrice is Beatrice, The Golden and Endless Witch. And happy Beatrice sees Battler there with her and asks him how did they end up here. The worst possible thing happens right after that. Battler loses his memory of her being witch, of their love story and etc. He asks her "Who are you? Where am I?" 5) And then Beatrice decides to start the GAME. The game which goal was to make Battler remember everything ( which actually happens in Ep 6., but by the time Beatrice is already Dead and he decides to take her memory and put it into another body). Then they defeat Erika and everything goes accoding to the VN till the moment Ange chooses the door. So, the point is: Ryukishi is a witty bastard who puts the beginning of the story in the very end. But after I reached that I was amazed. Wish you luck, witch-hunters!

Actually, according to the manga, the reason Yasu jumped overboard in the first place was so Battler could never find out about her "cursed body," so she really didn't tell him "everything."
@liaw31668 жыл бұрын
Featherine: "If I get stuck on writing, I always start with the ending." Episode 1 includes the ending, but only in a certain scene. Episode 1 also includes the beginning. Because in the meta, everything is concurrent and all the events are mixed up. There is still much more. The magic ending with Touya and Ikuko is a "magic" ending. This means, this is real if you accept "magic". And with this, one cannot say that this here is "the" truth. We'd miss a huge chunk of the story.
@BenkaiDebussy8 жыл бұрын
Well, this *is* basically the ending of real-life Yasu/Beatrice's and Battler's (since he basically dies and is replaced by Tohru due to the memory loss) story. The meta can be interpreted in a number of ways (after-life, parallel universe, merely symbolic, etc), but at the end of the day the actual people are dead.

And the "happy ending where they get married" that you're referring to is simply the ending of an earlier episode (there are 8 in total). It's not the end of the series. There are two main endings in Umineko - The Magic ending, and the Trick ending. This video is only a part of the magic ending... it's not the full thing. My videos don't cover everything. It's kind of bittersweet to see Yasu being like this. It gives me the feeling that there are no happiness on Yasu's love story. Like when she fell in love with Battler. Battler broke his promise with Yasu. Yasu waiting for him for a long time. Then when she just finished the riddles that Kinzo proposed, she realized that she was born male, Kinzo's child, and her crush actually is her nephew. In this ending, It just gives me the feeling of Yasu's last wish with Battler before she decided to suicide. In addition, she also gives me the feeling of despair , the feelings that you aren't good enough for your crush and you never be, while your crush is completely out of your league. I just think Beatrice is actually such a great character. In ep 1-ep 4, she probably makes me bit mad. But the more I learn about her from Ep 5-Ep 8. She such a tragic character :')

Beatrice telling Battler to close his eyes then kiss him, the two joking around, making the reader believe this is a happy moment and a happy ending is coming only for Battler to open his eyes and Beatrice is gone. Just for the record. The multiple personalities theory is just a means of explaining and segwaying into what it truly is but many people fail to pick up on. Yasu created Shannon, Kanon and Beatrice as characters/imaginary friends/roles to act to give her life meaning. Much the same way Sakutaro is Maria's imaginary friend. The entire scene in episode 4 with Maria and Rosa can be interpreted as a major hint to how Yasu works. "Sakutaro is DEAD. Sakutaro is DEAD" "Kanon is DEAD. Shannon is DEAD." Yasu is not a delusional crazy person with multiple personalities. She's much more than that. Also for the record I DO appreciate and love the RosaTrice theory. I just don't see how it can discredit the ShKanonTrice theory in any way. Since most of the "proof" that it does, is based on mistranslated red. I like both theories because I have a strong understanding of both.

@@AirahsELL You've obviously never read about or encountered people afflicted with DID then. It's a very debilitating mental illness and a chaotic one at that. There is absolutely NO WAY someone with DID can go about being undiscovered by the members of the Ushiromiya household for so many years; especially the employers; even with sheer dumb luck, due to their strict conditions and hostile environment. What's even more impossible is planning and executing such intricate murders, which would then require Yasu to CONTROL which alter will be in charge of their body and when at any given circumstance, and cope with the accompanied memory loss experienced by the host personality during the transition. Especially when it's during a time of great mental instability like the annual family conference, you'd expect Yasu to be under so much stress that she'd be glitching in and out of alternate states due to the immense stress of executing her plan. And yes, she believed herself to be those versions of herself, because to her, they WERE different people even if they didn't really exist, and who is to say otherwise? It's just like how Sakutaro was a real friend to Maria even though it's obvious she's only playing pretend and being a ventriloquist for the stuffed lion doll.

/SPOILERS AHEAD though i dont know if I would need them here but The Battler Beatrice died with is most likely an illusion, considering how he floated to the top and became Tohya... Which means Yasu died alone.. I...
@jujuyoyo269 жыл бұрын
There is two différents interpretations of this ending: 1. The person who is beatrice (probably yasu) came with battler on the boat, then she "fell", and battler survived, but i don't like this one 2. More symbolic, battler was always alone on the boat, but he couldn't forget beatrice, so his mind "died" with her, that's why tohya has not battler's memory, and the reason why the 4 first tales are full of witches and all is because battler's mind won't remember anything but a witch, hé doesn't xanthiques to have a human culprit
@ehhhthell22369 жыл бұрын
+YoyoGames Well its more like Battler and Beatrice left on the boat together, but Beatrice couldn't live on with the guilt and such, ended up deciding to fall using the ingot as weight to hold her down. Battler went after her in the ocean to try to save her, but ended up rising and surviving in the end. Though "Battler as a person" pretty much died along with her.
@Phant0mC0bra9 жыл бұрын
+Ehhh Thell Actually, if you read the manga version of this scene, you'll see Beatrice's reason for jumping ship wasn't simply guilt. It's pretty sad.

#2 wouldn't explain how Battler knew how to get to the boat in the first place.
@BenkaiDebussy8 жыл бұрын
Yeah - she basically realizes (or at least assumes) that her love with Battler is doomed to fail the first time they decide to sleep together, and would rather just die now before their relationship is ruined. For what its worth, I think that Battler may have actually been okay with it. Not George though, that guy would have probably murdered Yasu if he found out Shannon wasn't actually (physically, at least) a girl.

The manga version shows the truth of this scene, but is not recommended for those who value the essence of the story. If you want to understand Yasu, by all means, go ahead.

Remember, if you remove the meta, you can see the truth. Nothing happened, there was no love and there was no Beatrice. Battler ran to the dock, found a piece of gold, took it with him, undid the boat and ran away. Then, as he tried to remain steady, as it was shown that he didn't love movement, the shockwave of the bomb knocked him out of the water and he slowly drowned in the water causing irreparable damage to his brain. This what happened to Battler in Prime.

Wasn’t it Shannon’s love for battler, but then Beatrice/Yasu took that love into her own heart because she wanted to know love.
@lambdadeltasfanclubmanager90783 жыл бұрын
Beatrice and Shannon are different personas of Sayo Yasuda (the human culprit/writer of the message bottles/the true identity of Beatrice, Shannon, and Kanon). Sayo gave rise to her Beatrice persona through the pranks she pulled on other servants, but soon gave the witch persona her love for Battler along with the qualities of Battler's ideal woman (blonde hair, well-endowed breasts, a feisty personality). Added the fact that Sayo (who was simultaneously Shannon and Kanon) had to deal with their love for the other cousins, with George being for Shannon and Jessica being for Kanon. It's complicated, I know, but Sayo Yasuda is a very complex character that Umineko tries best for you to understand her. Everything about her heart is laid out in the story, begging to be understood and maybe even one day, loved.

The story plays out until this part, he gets found by whats her face and he develops brain problems and plays himself as a man named Tor- something. That woman with him is featherine (The story writer inside the story and outside.) since battler was too brain damaged, he remembered all the events as Battler's not his own and eventually found Ange as "Kotobuki" He delays their meeting for years until finally they meet, have a sad moment, meet once more, official ending of story as the weight of "Battler Uroshimiya" is now taken from Tor- something.

i wonder why battler doesn't seem to be affected on what happened on his last 2 days on rokkenjima. this makes me thinks he's kind of accomplice or sumthing.
@mopsicool8 жыл бұрын
+Razu 027 No, he acted like that for Sayo. Just before this scene, he is shown not being able to accept the fact that his relatives died, making Sayo act like Beatrice to cheer him up. (At least in the manga.) But it does seem strange.

+Carly Spayd Nope, Battler died and BATTLER sinked with her, Tohya was born from Battlers corpse
@lptc59 жыл бұрын
I guess a simpler way of putting it is that Battlers conscience stayed with Beatrice, but his body didn't, which is why Tohya survived but lost all of his memories
@TheXxxprotogirlxxx8 жыл бұрын
battler surviving goes aganist the red absolute truth so toya isnt real
@latiaos118 жыл бұрын
no no you dont get it. Battler as a person died, he lost all trace of memory, everything. So he can't be considered as himself even tho it's his body, everything else was gone, so he couldnt be considered as Battler since his old self was gone forever. Think of his body as a vessel for a new person, since ''Battler'' left the body, a new conciousness had to take place, and that was Tohya
@VOZZIFY8 жыл бұрын
+latiaos11 Exactly, in the same way Kanon was 'killed' in Episode 6 when Beatrice saved Battler, and took on the identity of Shannon.
