Hey Caroline I SOOOO hope that you're taking time off here to pursue your music career, which ever since I listened to your album think is well worth the effort. You have a great talent and ability and it would be a shame if you didn't go after it wholeheartedly. Btw although I'm not a musician, everything I've heard and read tells me that the best way to achieve success as a musician is to perform, as often as possible in as many venues as possible. Clubs, bars, events, festivals, parties, weddings, cruises, even plain old fashioned busking for pocket change. It hones one's skills and exposes one's talents to a broader public, which often leads to bigger things. It's how the Beatles were discovered and developed their abilities. Yes, it's a lot of work, but when has that ever not been the case in literally any profession? Anyway, whatever you're up to, happy holidays and hope you're doing well. 😊

Taylor Swifts music is not for me. Sounds to me quite overproduced and artificial. But I think she's very talented. Lock her into a room, give her a guitar and record that. I think I might like this kind of an album of her.

I would suggest you Try the album “Pet Sounds” by The Beach Boys. In 1990, when I had the honor of talking with Paul about Pet Sounds, he said that he had given each of his children a copy of the album because he believed that nobody’s musical education is complete until they’ve heard Pet Sounds.

So I thought that I was basically done posting here given that Caroline appears to have moved on to other things, but then I came across an interesting article in the New York Times about a well-known and successful young KZbinr named Emma Chamberlain, whom I had never heard of but maybe some others here have (age-wise I'm pretty far removed from her natural fan base). Apparently her success was turning into a major source of stress for her, between the fear of being attacked online, having aspects of her personal life revealed, and even the not unreasonable fear of someone approaching her in real life, and well, use your imagination, and the feeling that she had to keep posting high-quality videos to keep feeding that audience demand for every more content. So she decided to, well, move on to other things, which is understandable and I suppose for many KZbinrs inevitable, and which we as viewers have to just accept, and wish them well in their future endeavors. As I said I don't know anything about Emma Chamberlain, but I do wish Caroline well, and hope that she comes upon this article as I think she could relate to it. The pressure she faced to keep putting up great videos after her Beatles series must have been unbearable, and would explain why she's decided to stop posting here. Plus, I think that her true talents lie elsewhere, in music composition, recording, performance, and, also, humor. She's quite a riot and think that she could put all those talents to good use somewhere. Once again, Caroline, thanks for all the great videos and best of luck with whatever you choose to pursue, and if you feel like it, drop us a quick note here letting us know that you're ok and have moved on from this channel and KZbin (well, on a personal level at least 😉)

Hello Caroline Hope you get this note - been trying to get in touch for some time, but you hadn't been responding to any emails or comments from anyone... which has been a bit worrying in itself. I hope you are OK. Well here goes anyway... Firstly, I had wanted to ask how I could buy your music for download - I prefer owning music to streaming, and you deserve paying for it (not the pittance I presume you get from Spotify and KZbin). It's professional quality, not just one of the stairwell shorts, and you’ve clearly done a lot of work on it - equipment, writing, music, singing, production, mastering and even videos for some. I’ve tried a career in this in the past, I know the work (and money) involved. But some good news... I've now figured out how to download from KZbin, so that's half the problem solved. Cazza's 21 (and a half) songs now sit proudly in my MP3 library alongside Beatles, Elton, ABBA, Genesis and the rest. Plus I decided to go the whole hog and create two CDs - An Adventure, and the earlier tracks on a compilation that I called A Journey. I designed custom inserts for the cases using your artwork and notes - looks quite good, I wish you could see them. They now sit neatly on my CD shelf, filed in between Carpenters and, err... various people called Chris. So I owe you... well, actually I already did. Finding your channels has been a revelation - your videos, music and words have affected me in ways that are hard to communicate in a KZbin comment. But I must awkwardly try, as this is all I have. I'm in awe at what you have done. I'm equally inspired to try again myself, and ashamed that I gave up - “a failed musician”, fear of judgement, not being good enough... all that. As well as digging out some of my old tracks and looking to do something live, one of my first projects will be to learn and play your songs - best way to appreciate them. Currently on guitar, I’ve already had a few ideas for Chosen, and really want to do something with the ‘Ukulele song’ (“So Far Away”?). Others will come once I get my keyboards fixed/replaced. But actually... it’s deeper than that - you seem such a genuine person, honest about your struggles, but still so hopeful and warm - it’s touched me, made me think about how to be different myself - you’ve changed my attitude to life. Trying to channel that positivity into other new projects and how I relate to others, being honest about flaws but still trying. So I don’t know how to value all that, probably can’t. But now a certain Roger donation has ‘raised the stakes’ it seems, so I had to top that. Still seems both too much and not enough at the same time. (Separately, I’ve often wondered what it will take to make this work viable for you. You have 25600 subs, if only they all contributed $1 ...) About your channels... I only found you last November, so gutted I missed both your KZbin and music journeys over the past 3 or 4 years - I would have contributed, supported, encouraged. Also now horrified that I seem cursed, as it looking increasingly like you chose that same moment to stop doing it all. This is heartbreaking - you have huge amounts of talent on both fronts, and the world is a much better place with both CallMeCaroline and Cazza in it. You are clearly a natural musician, who loves music... Don’t give up. Speaking of which, do you understand how much support you have here? You are loved - just look at the comments - there are all sorts of people missing you... and they don’t know where or why you’ve gone. I actually got genuinely worried by the absence at one point - seeing someone who had previously posted very regularly, who had also shared a lot of their struggles in the past and mentioned mental health problems, suddenly stop without explanation - no content, no replies, no tweets, nothing - that’s really scary. No way to reach you and check if you are OK. As someone who has suffered from depression and social anxiety (big part of killing my music career) I know what dark places you can get in sometimes if you think you aren’t appreciated. You ARE. (It’s NOT you. You are NOT the problem.). So this is not about pressure for more content - just that there are real humans behind all these handles (Hi from Peter, Manchester) who care about the real human behind these channels and want to know that you’re OK. Just do a quick post in Community, or a simple short ‘selfie-video’ for everyone? I’m really hoping it is just a money/time thing that is keeping you away, and that you are feeling good. Just let us all know? So... I’d love to talk to you more about all this various stuff but... actually conflicted by that idea, and whether I should be saying any of this. KZbin fan wanting to talk to KZbinr - yawn, join the queue. Plus while I hope you haven’t had any bad experience with ‘Randoms off the Internet’, sadly the news seems to suggest that it’s inevitable in our world and you would have had some unwanted attention or nasty messages (probably from people who make me ashamed of my gender). Not wanting to add to any of that. But honestly, feel like I need to... for a start I’m a musician that would love to discuss all things music with another musician. But ultimately, even more so, I suppose I’m just an average human reaching out with recognition to another average human, saying - do you want a chat, a friend, an Internet penpal? No hidden agenda. Probably not, but don’t hate me for trying... It’s there if you want. So if this is it and we don’t see you again... In a world full of fakes and liars, cynicism and bad news, (anti)social media and hustlers... you are a talented, insightful, genuine, warm human with a beautiful soul. I want to live in a world where someone like you gets to Win. Don’t Give Up

You should definitely give her discography a try, it's quite varied in styles and most of them are high quality. Debut, Fearless and Speak Now are great country rock with some fantastic hooks, RED and 1989 are a mix of rock and pop that has some of her most known and acclaimed songs, Reputation was a try at electropop that has some really good songs (but its mostly considered one of the worst), Lover is synthpop full of bops and one of my favorites, then we have Folklore and Evermore, products of the pandemic and I don't think anyone knew that Swift would be so good at folk. I think you would like Folklore/Evermore especially!

Evermore and Folklore are beautiful albums... IMHO. I love Reputation; the 'harder' and more aggressive pop sound, and experimenting with different beats, and artists; excellent! 1989 is a great album, with a few standout songs, but for me, not in the same vein as Reputation! As yet, I've not listened to her earlier country stuff, not being a fan of country! This new one, Midnights, is gorgeous.... to quote a line from 'Snow on the Beach'; "Weird, but fuckin' beautiful"..... and I love that Lana Del Rey is part of this song too! 👍

@@taytaywinchester8214 No. The monster that is the Taylor Swift economic engine is something I'm not going to give a chance to. At concerts photographers (I'm a photog) have had cameras confiscated by Swift security for daring to take photographs of the prima donna while singing on stage. The image is controlled, the music, same. The music is no longer organic. It represents a fight for copyright and overlording airwaves. The symbolism of music, what it represents, matters to me as much as the music itself. No, I will not give it a chance. Not in the slightest.

@@lawrencegleason4666 Seriously? You don't like her because her security took away people's cameras? One's that I assume are professional cameras? You do realize that "professional-looking" cameras aren't allowed at ANY concert, right? It's not just Taylor, it's EVERYONE. And sure, you can argue over whether that's right or not, but if it's something that's standard for *every* artist, then blaming Taylor and only Taylor for it is quite honestly one of the stupidest things I've heard. Having seen some of your reactions to the Beatles, I'd really love to see you react to Carbon Leaf. I recommend you start with either Echo Echo or Indian Summer Revisited, but all of their albums are fantastic. It took a few albums for them to pin down their style, but they're probably my favorite band of all time, and I think you'd really like them. They have a few albums that they remade (namely "Indian Summer," "Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat," and "Nothing Rhymes With Woman"), and I recommend you listen to the remade versions of those ("Indian Summer Revisited," "Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat Reneaux," and "Nothing Rhymes With Woman" respectively). You'd also probably like The Accidentals, who I first saw open for Carbon Leaf, but now have significantly increased in popularity and skill. One of their albums (Tangled Red & Blue) isn't available on Spotify, but it's also definitely worth listening to.

It would be interesting to hear your reaction to it, as it's a very interesting song to break down as it incorporates so many musical elements and instruments, has beautiful and haunting lyrics, and is just a damn good song, one of their best.

I have to admit, I really like the track listing. That's a clever idea that I wish I'd thought of first.

I'm not a Swiftie, but that's okay...she's obviously a talented artist (and a savvy businesswoman) with an enviable body of work. However, I wonder about the high praise she gets for being "transparent" and exposing "raw feelings" in her work. That doesn't make her unique, songwriters have been doing that forever. Take for example the soul-baring depths of despair revealed in The Who's "However Much I Booze".

I don't think it's so much about whether she's the first person to be "transparent" or not, it's more about how she's one of the few *modern* popular artists to do it.

I’m really upset with some comments in your video, since you Caroline talks about music in general so your channel should have a lot of music enthusiasts. I am aware that taylor my be too young or too pop to some listeners but I think you and the channel’s subscribers should give Taylor Swift a chance. I am a huge fan of classic rock and become a taylor swift fan listening to her folk albums (Folklore and Evermore), and nowadays she’s in a position of the industries that great guys that I am a massive fan like McCartney, Lennon, Morrison, Dylan, etc. occupied. She’s even considered by many the greatest composer in the business today, so I think you should give her projects a chance and the other subscribers should open more their minds as well.
