[Thought 1] - It seems to me like it's pouring down rain (saw it in the lights, and thought it was some kind of lighting feature at first). This appears to be one great advantage to having "drive-in" concerts - people can just get in their cars to listen when it's raining! Doesn't seem to destroy the energy of the music either. [Thought 2] - How long have they been using LCD displays? Do they use them in most of their songs, or only select songs? For some reason they don't seem to work well with Phish - but with these guys they appear to work REALLY well, especially since they are not "over-used", but only sporatically throughout the jams. I also wonder sometimes about how the lighting guy is able to quickly make a decision about which lighting combination to use, and when - he appears to be "spot-on" with the music here, and in my opinion, lighting is not just about pushing random buttons, EVEN if there ARE pre-configured patterns.

Umphrey's using hand signals and talk back mics for time/chord changes which explains how the LD is able to switch on time/on point. Knowing the catalogue on general is a major factor. This is actually their fairly new LD Ben. Guy has clearly put in the work. He's no Waful(previous LD) but he's young and has major promise. Also as you can clearly see he kind of changes his mind a couple notes into a change and adjusts to the change in playing.

The jam band scene has been dead for a while considering most of the top line bands have members in their 70s. Umph played their 2000th show in 2014 and has done more to bring people together than you did during your 30 min dinner last night. Umph transcends “jam band music”. If your looking for a jam band find a band that doesn’t play everything. Umphreys brings so much rock and roll you need two hands to get the fuck down. \um/
