As part of the Lightning Talk Series focused Conservation and Restoration, U-M SEAS Professor Don Zak shares three primary questions at the root of soil ecology:
What are the ecological forces that structure the diversity and composition of microbial communities in soil? How is composition (who’s there) linked to function (what they are doing)? Does this linkage influence how terrestrial ecosystems work and how they respond to climate change?
The Lightning Talk Series is designed to spark new interdisciplinary research, teaching, and engagement collaborations that address global challenges at the nexus of environment and society. Learn from sustainability scholars across campus through a series of environment and sustainability short talks hosted by the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS).
