UMV3 - First time ever cutting holes in the roof

It's that time - time to cut the roof for the Maxxfan and Skylight and I've never used a jigsaw before so why not try cutting the roof of my new van for the first time. To say I was a little nervous was a massive understatement, I'm sure that's written all over my face - haha..

It's no bad thing that Cooper's presence lives on. Mandy, it is completely natural that you are missing Cooper, grief takes time and patience. Cooper will always be with you. We had a beautiful black and white border collie, who we lost aged 16, 29 th December 2018. See never forget and I think of him every day. As for the build you are doing a great job. Leaned something there, putting masking tape on the jig saw, never thought of that.

Fabulous video. I love how excited you got for IKEA 😁. The van is coming along a treat. Its easy using a jigsaw isn't it? You looked like a pro. I loved John watching you while you cut the hole as if you were giving him a lesson on how to do it 😁. It would be a sad affair if you didn't get upset over Coopy and bumble. We lost our boy Twink (cat) last month who was just over 17 years old and I physically hurt from his loss. We lost his brother Ted (from the same litter) last year too so it was an end of an era. I said to Adam last night how lovely it would be to cuddle them again. Anyhow, I've had a cushion made with their photo on it and I bloomin love it. Perhaps you could get one of Coop. ❤

Just to say thanks for this lovely update. I sobbed at you not wiping Coopers paw prints away. We lost our Dalmatian Lottie suddenly on the 5th October. I felt I wasn’t normal as every patch of white sparkles she left behind made me cry, every nose print in my car window and the smell of her on her bedding made me cry. I felt I was crazy and couldn’t justify my heartbreak but without even knowing you made my grief seem normal. I am leaving this message a day or so later as I couldn’t leave it for crying at the time. Take care and I hope our fur babies are enjoying their travels over rainbow bridge. X

Binge watching your earlier videos, this one made me cry when you were talking about the footprints, I would have been the same. It made me cry and laugh at the same time too when John bought you the tape measure as that was something my late husband would have done too. Aw Cooper. Our childhood cat Simon that went 'missing' in Lockerbie when we were overnighting in the Caravan on the way up to Scotland on our holiday one year - we were sure he had assistance from Dad.... One day he jumped in through the Dining room window just after Mum had painted the window sills inside and left 3 perfect paw prints. They sills were repainted a couple of times before we sold, and each time the paw prints were left, they were hidden by the curtains, so you couldn't see them normally. Always a nice little memory of him when the curtains came down for cleaning.

Oh Mandy... I so felt for you when you said about Coop's footprints. I shed a tear with you. I cried when I sold Bessie the E435. all the memories of bimbles with mum and our cat Mysha disappeared off the drive. Then I thought, No they didn't. They are still with me as Coopy is still with you and John. I like you and John then got my own van to make memories in. We made sure a bed was available before bumble went - living without all the things we’re used to is a good incentive to get on with the builds 😂

I know what it's like to lose a dog. I still have my dressing gown my dog lay on just before she died and her lead and collar in the van but her bed is in a safe place but not with me.. I'm sure you can make your van a new home for you Mandy. John's van looks amazing, I'm sure yours will too!

I had to put my big boys pants on a few weeks ago. My sisters dog (Nando) had to be put to sleep (Cancer) but she was too upset so I stayed with him. One of the hardest things I’ve done but I had to hide my feelings because she was distraught. The footprints part just got to me.

@@unadventurousmandy wow...I am quite surprised. We tried to do a weekend gasless and failed. We could have managed it if we had driven a lot more, or just had more power. But we do use our oven a lot and I would struggle to cook the same things. I much prefer to see how people manage in the real world in their vans, rather than just sit on the drive testing things😉. I am trying to get it together to put out a video but it will probably take 2 days editing, and I am trying to finish a customers van so the video will have to wait 🤣. Have fun with the build.

It’s a Maxxfan dome plus with LED light, very simple extraction only and the fan pops up and down as you need it, it can be mounted sideways and the light is amazing too
