Blimy just taken out an uninsulated 904 flu and it has completely disintegrated, just about to fit another fingers crossed this one last longer than 7 years🤞👍

It looked like there were some small pits/holes developing in the ridges of the liner. Am I just imagining this? Maybe hard to see watching on a phone... Thanks for the videos. Very useful as considering whether to bother insulating the flue liner we'll be putting in. It's an exterior wall but cavity is insulated so I can't imagine it would get that cold.

Thank Joe, Life and the day job kind of got in the way. Semi retired now, with lots past projects to post and loads more in the pipeline. ...Doors, Trike, running mouldings, Timber frame conservatory, Cast iron bath polishing, More Windows, leaded glass, etc....

Nice to know there is no tar buildup. My register plate has cracked (stove installer used 5mm board instead of 12mm) and all the vermiculite is falling out. I aim to replace the plate with a steel one and not put the insulation back again.

I will rarely insulate an interior chimney, because it’s insulated enough from the house itself, especially when there’s existing tile. On an exterior chimney, 95% of the time I will put insulation around the liner, because the chimney is to cold.

How long has the liner been there also how often do you sweep the chimney

12 year it has been in at the time of recording and I think it was two years since it was last swept.
