This is incredibly stunning. The music is divine. Imagine what Versailles must have been like during its heyday? It's a living museum now with tourists coming to visit. During Louis XIV's time it must have been a sight to behold. Too bad the time machine hasn't been invented yet 😊😊

Rubaida Allen Yes it is stunning seen like this! The reality of a visit there is the opposite! Horribly overcrowded , as too many are allowed in . I recall a visit about twenty years ago, when visits were strictly limited to a stated time, and were much less stressful than my recent experience ! Unfortunately some visitors were incredibly rude , noisy , and badly behaved. I will not go back there. Thank heavens for KZbin videos like this one !

Aucun château au monde ne surpasse Versailles, car la maîtrise Française de l'artisanat est mufti-disciplinaire. Il y a des centaines de métiers d'artisanat qui s'imbriquent les uns dans les autres pour faire un tout dans un gout toujours imité jamais égalé. Même tout l'argent du monde ne peut construire quelque chose d'aussi beau hors France. Tout aux mieux ils peuvent atteindre la virtuosité dans un domaine ou deux mais pour le florilège des Arts à la Française il faut bien plus. Le roi est mort, vive le Roi !

Maybe France had, but not "the French". The wars of Louis XIV decimated the French population immensely, spoken in percentages even more than the horrible Great War. Also the banishment of the Huguenots led to a loss of superiority, because valuable know-how was spread all over Europe, making it harder for French artisans to sell their products abroad. Humanity has profited from this pinnacle of Western culture errected at Versailles for sure, but the French had to pay a high price for it.

I am so obsessed with this palace. It is the most fascinating and beautiful place in all of France. It is on my bucket list to visit. I sure hope I can save up enough to get me there. I just have too. The sun king left behind something extraordinary for all to experience. He would of wanted that.

Since enormous restoration and financial effort to present Chateau of Versailles as close as possible to the time of the ancient original, the most appropriate sound accompanying this video would have been period music from that time, music that Louis XIV favored and would approve of =J.B.Lully and J.P.Rameau. It would have authentically complimented the visual magnificence shown for truly impressive emotional experience.

"Tellement fière d'être française" (???) lorsque vous ne voyez plus la vaste majorité des châteaux qui furent ravagés et rasés et leurs habitants sauvagement brûlés vifs dedans "voyant" la dévastation barbare de leurs maisons perpétrée par la populace déchaînée pendant la soi-disante ""révolution"" de 1789. Et ""fière"" (?????) de ne plus voir le château le plus beau de tous, le Palais des Tuileries, siège des représentants de la "nouvelle" monarchie jusqu'en 1871 et qui aurait éclipsé la beauté et la splendeur du château de Versailles. Si, en toute votre générosité, vous êtes prête à donner 1 Euro pour la reconstruction de la cathédrale de Notre Dame, il en faudrait au moins 100 pour un projet encore bien plus digne: LA RECONSTRUCTION FIDÈLE DU PALAIS DES TUILERIES !!!

I love Versailles ! I once saw this video on there are no bathroom's in the entire Palace. That person didn't know that chamber pots come to you in Palaces. This Palace is beautiful in every culture, time period and thanks to everyone who keeps everything beautiful !!

Je ne me lasse jamais de visiter "notre" Palais et le trouve de plus en plus beau. J'adore son histoire. As lovely as this video is, it belies the reality of the Palace both in the ancien regime and now, where it was/is overcrowded and overrun with the stink of people, who, in former times would relieve themselves in alcoves and under stairwells. Nevertheless, I do appreciate the beauty of the Palace of Versailles and this video production.

I assure that, despite the use of copious perfume, there was still plenty of body odor, as most courtiers spot-bathed and took full baths infrequently. His Majesty, Louis XIV was adamantly against bathing. He thought opening the pores in hot water let in ill humors and disease. Our forbears were simply woefully ignorant and superstitious when it came to matters of sanitation, bacteria, and disease.

When I played in the Orchestra of Teatro la Fenice di Venezia I was always fascinated by the people who would polish the chandeliers, making a round known only to them, and then they would being all over again when they'd reached the end of their circuit. This all ended when a few Venetians decided to burn the theater down when they were incapable of finishing the work they were contracted to do.
