This is one of the best games I have ever played. I loved everything about it, the gameplay, the "heroes", the clans, the skirmish mode even though I was only able to play vs ai, and most especially the story mode. I also really loved the concept arts dedicated around the characters in this game back in the day. Man, this brings so many memories when me and my older brothers used to take turns on the family computer to play skirmish. My favorite clan to play as was prolly between the wolf clan or the lotus clan because they had Koril. I also really loved the thematic concept of this game as well. I think that the imperial Japanese warfare-inspired theme (throw in a little sorcery and science magic there) is what gives charm to the game, not to mention the aesthetics such theme brings. I think there's a great potential to the story and its characters for an expanded world and loreship. With that said, I'm wishing one day there will be a remake of this game, or even a remastered version would be great. (I know a Zen version of this game exists in steam client but I don't think it counts as a remastered, does it?)

Be honest, if we were a Serpent peasant in the Battle Realms world, we wouldn't care about how our leaders would rule us. We'd still be mad at the fall of our clan and be filled with such fury and anger that we'll take anyone so as long as someone leads us against those Wolf savages and Lotus creeps who are tearing what's left of our country apart. If the Serpent's Son is a nice guy, all the better but as long as the guy freaking cleans the trash, we'd all follow him.

The game is out on Steam (Early access) and it costs only around $6. Do your part and support the game! If enough people does, we'll get a lot of updates, fixing bugs and improving the game and if it gets enough support, we just might get a sequel. :)

While the Dragon path is a good story in itself, Serpent Path is my most favorite for Kenji. Not because I like Kenji to be bad than good, but rather, his story in this campaign is much more interesting imo and the voice actor is much more emotional rather than the boring Dragon Kenji. Plus, he gets to keep a very loyal subordinate in his side (Shinja) that survives while Otomo dies in both Dragon and Serpent campaign and gerts replaced by Kazan.

How come Ninjas are better with a Necromancer? I mean... Monks vs Ninjas I know Monks kill them faster. But how do they work better with the Necromancer?

Monks are better fighters and like Shinja said, cannon fodder. Ninjas are best for scouting which would be a bit useful for someone playing the campaign for the first time but even decent players already know how to beat the campaign easily so monks are superior. . The only downside is that I think the monks won't get stronger the more Yin you have since they are sided with Yang but that won't really matter anyways. . Plus, since you'll be fighting the Wolf, monks are pretty great since their attack (blunt) is the weakness of Wolf units like Berserkers and Sledgers. And with Tao, you'll get 6 of 'em which means you'll have a decent melee group to distract the enemy whilst your snipers and smoke-spamming cannons sit at the back and shit all over whatever comes your way.

You missed the Tao recruitment cutscene. You can get him in the bottom right area of the monk mission. He's traveling with a few soldiers, after you kill them he joins you

@Oniplus You can't get Issyl on either paths in Kenji's Journey. Utara is more useful than Koril. Whilst her BG isn't as useful because Taro isn't around, it's still pretty good against units weak against magic. Also, her other ability, which stuns any unit who attacks her in melee is very good. What you can do is place her at the front of your army to let the enemy attack her, get stunned, then you have snipers at the back picking them all off and then probably 5 geishas ready to heal her, preferably on horses so then can trample all the enemies.

yo this is how you do it, hope you havent given up! use ability to connect lifeforce of kenji to the ronin then immediately attack the wolf base which i think is south, then set up there and then only one army - otomo - will be attacking you. it works cos the enemy is building base at the same time as you, so earlier you attack, easier it is

Serpent is easy mode compared to dragon. In serpent your mortal enemy is wolf and wolf is kinda weak against serpent. But in dragon you'll face lotus, and lotus magic is effective against dragon.

Dragon > Serpent Serpent > Wolf Wolf > Lotus Lotus > Dragon Yea, he's right about the part where Serpent is sort of an easy mode. Serpent has anti-shale weapons so they win against Wolf. They're also quick in gathering resources. With Dragon, besides the Dragon Warrior and Kabuki, everyone else is weak against Lotus' magic.

I always wondered - Kenji killed geisha in this path, but after that he still continued to use geisha unit as service?!?! Serpent healers should have had a different name then. Serpent had the best music theme tho, although I prefer Dragon campgain. Game screams for expansion of the universe, adding more clans & more storylines.
