New Berlin, NY. The national track used to be a grass track with completely natural obstacles ( like European tracks). Now it is a flat track with supercross obstacles. I was there for the first 250 USGP in 1978 when Marty Tripes won by .8 seconds. I saw all the classic Hannah/ DeCoster battles in the late 70s. Great memories.

In my world, this is better racing than what they do across the street. Growing up my buddies and me had 2 different grass tracks. Had more fun on those than I ever did on an MX track. Good times!

So sweet and green.The smell of burning castor oil and fresh loam being churned up by a new Trelleborg.I am 61 .Grew up in Ca.Bay Area up in Nor Cal.You could ride anywhere that didnt have a fence around it.My friends and i layed out incredible grass tracks all over the place.Sears Point Raceway had the best natural terrain grass tracks ive ever seen.I dont miss Ca but i do miss the riding and racing of the sixties and seventies.Thanks for the memories.

I have a distinct memory of the first time I was at Unadilla for the Saturday practice in the Fall of 1978. I remember being surprised how tall the grass on the track was before they started riding, about 3’ tall. Those open class works bikes chewed up that grass and within a few hours it was churned into the dirt. It was an awesome track with a perfect surface for motocross racing.

95% of my MX career in the 70's was with the good ol rubber band start. When someone got caught in it the bike would crash before the surgical tubing would break!
@kurtvonfricken68293 жыл бұрын
Ironically, I think Unadilla was the first pro track to use the backwards falling starting gate we now see everywhere. I believe that is an upstate New York invention.

Maaan this world sucks. Just were at a gym with my friend and we parked a classic Kawasaki 1992 zxr 400 to a normal parking lot. Spent little bit over an hour at the gym and when we come back BOOM where is the motorcycle?! Can these parasites really stop stealing bikes and go do some kind of real job instead? Btw my same friends Suzuki RM 250 got stolen last riding season aswell :)
