Villa players weren’t capable of holding possession of the ball when they were up one and kept losing the ball just outside the box. I don’t think it’s fair on Martinez getting fully blamed on going up for that crossing which I don’t even see as mistake itself. It was draw or nothing.

So when he is talking about "learning from our mistakes" he isn't talking about himself, but he is saying "my players made mistakes and we lost", putting the blame on them. That is a terrible press conference. Keeper helping score 1 out of 100 times vs 10 counter-attack goals out of 100... still makes sense to send the keeper out on the last minute when losing. It is not a mistake for Martinez to go out there. It is a mistake for Unai to criticise him this way. In his salt he couldn't come up with a better excuse for his defeat so he laid random blame on Martinez despite him only costing 1 goal while 3-2 behind on 98th minute. Seeing this, I will not be surprised if his 2nd Premiere league venture also ends with failure. He is a good manager but still seems to have a hard time adapting and getting in the right mindset.
