I personally didn't believe the earthquakes, the 500% loss of value would mean a victory for the opposition. Yes, it helped make the opposition not too far from being able to win, but not enough. They did easily win the vote of the youth. There is a cultural war going on. The youth are leaving the voting patterns of their parents in many cases. My focus is the next election, not this one. 1. Its look like there is a need of dialogue required between secularist and conservatives, respecting each other cultural values. If CHP wants any kind of inroad into this segment or else the far right will develop very fast , conservatives have tendencies to go to the right side easily. 2. It can be (ignorance) reflected in this debate that Ms. Deniz meant that conservatives are less educated and should not be at the social level they were in the AKP era. 3. I doubt that, it's not like if you're secular it meant to be highly educated with high diplomas, and if you're conservative, it means you're less educated and don't have diplomas. This kind of thinking won't unite the highly polarized society.

Its up to the Turkish people to make this decision. Considering that Erdogan is half a percent from a true majority, the runoff is definitely his to lose. It looks like it was a free and fair election, and people are under no compulsion to vote against Erdogan because he used that coup attempt years ago to fire/remove tens of thousands of Turks from their jobs, even down to normal school teachers. Or because he has probably mismanaged the economy into an inflationary spiral. If people want to vote for Erdogan because they like his traditional values, that is up to them.

There are other countries where the media either back or control this type of politics. The OSCE has called it out this bias. Hungary, Poland, GB are very similar. It is very difficult to unseat these conservative right nationalists régimes where "identity politics" are turbocharged to matter more than democracy, civil rights or economic growth.
