You're mostly right. the 1950s were the atomic age, all sleek, lots of chrome, everything new. Young boomers wanting something different than their parents/grandparents. My parents built their house about the same time as this, except no tile anywhere. Those recessed chrome soap dishes in the green bathroom, childhood memories! Great video, thank you.

What an amazing pad. From observing the subtle palet colors on the walls and the popping red formica countertop. This home is more indicative of being built in the 40's. The asbestos tiles on the floor were definitely used in the 60's. Before the asbestos tiles, I remember my Grandmother having flowered linoleum in the 50's and early 60's. How everything has changed. And not for the best in my opinion. Life in the 70's was so much less complicated. Technology will not end up being used in a healthy way for everyone. being it was what was mostly used everywhere. Always remember, when you see one centipede, there will always be another one, somewhere. They travel in two's. Ethan, I just want you to know that you are great, so respectful (kudos to your parents), and so much fun to watch. Congratulations on nearing 100,000 viewers. I absolutely love the tiled bathrooms. The green one would have to be my favorite one. You might not be too familiar with The Jetsons cartoons but the pattern on the downstairs countertop immediately reminded me of them. The Atomic Age. The sunburst design was very popular and there are dishes with that pattern that are now highly sought after. It had a light blue, black, and gold sunburst on a white background. I remember seeing that as a small child and someone in the family had those but I just can’t remember who. Having the drapery carriers hidden was something for richer people than we were for sure. We had wide slat Venetian blinds made of aluminum with wide strips that held the slats unlike the current mini blinds. I think someone may have had a large collection of some sort of figurines or something similar in the downstairs room with all the shelves. We had a massive amount of books and we could never have filled all the shelves, especially since they were also in another room. Maybe if they were a lawyer, doctor or scientist and kept all the journals that were published. I would have loved to have that room and have been able to fill all the shelves with books. I have to make do with ereaders because they take up so little room. Nice house.

EXCELLENT EXPLORE. Ethan, If u can, I would send this video to museums quickly !! I surely could see this house as a historical period house !! Greenfield Village here in Dearborn has period displays like this. I am hoping I encourage you to try this before it is destroyed. This is one of YOUR BEST WORK ,You should get credit for it. I am 70 years old so this house reminds me a lot of the house I grew up in. Of course not this big, but the colors. We had a pink tile shower. It was pretty small and we didn't have a bathtub. I can almost smell the paneling. That one kitchen table that looked like it had boomerangs on it was just like ours only our was blue. That black and pink bathroom reminded me of the kitchen in the first house my husband and I bought when we got married in 1989! That house was built in the 50s and was pretty much untouched, too. So cool!

The only things missing were the old occupants dressed in 50s fashions, flowered 3/4 length skirt for mom. suit with wide lapels for dad, daughter with a pony tail and son in a v neck long sleeve sweater. Bet the guy that figured out how to put the stove burner controls under the counter won an award for contemporary jet age design. the laundry chute and recessed florescent lighting was a blast from the past. Ethan what an amazing exploration of this beautiful 1950s home I was a little bit worried about when Doggs put the light switch on and you heard the buzzing sound of the florescent tube light humming electricity glad that was turned off quick before any one got a electric shock the kitchen was great love the red colour with the white the bathrooms were very nice the bar in the basement was called Laminex covering for tables and bench counter tops they were a very big thing back in the 50s and 60s a lot of Australin homes in the 50s and 60s had them but not so much in the 70s as the houses were changing but a great video of a retro home you bring so much joy when you finds these home and people who were born in the 50s 60s and 70s you bring back our childhood memories so thank you and see you in the next video

Thanks Ethan I really like these mid century homes because of the unique details and style. Using the materials available at that time, they really accomplished a lot. The more I see these pastel colors in your videos, they actually look pretty good, like the pale blue. Don't know if I'm ready to grab a brush but I would consider this color for a modern bedroom.

I have never seen those windows vent things before, they are interesting. You are right about the kitchen, with the color and old stainless and (high tech for the time I would imagine), definitely fit the Atomic look and style!💫✨ There is so much of that type of themed decor out there still, that it would awesome to own this old treasure of a house and and decorate it in that style,! Awesome house ! I have the same real wood paneling in the living room on the fireplace wall with built in bookcases and cupboards. It is also on all the walls in a small office room (formally the doctor's home examination room). The bathrooms are all original (except toilets) and look like the ones in that house. I love the retro feel of my house and would never change a thing. 🥰

Well loved home. Must of been empty for a very long time, which explains the mold. Too bad about the mold. I love the layout. The features are very standard for the time. I won’t say it was a mansion but definitely middle class affluence. I always try to imagine the owner or family that lived in your explores Ethan. With the bookshelves downstairs, a university professor or writer? The wife was a stay at home mom, so she had a homemakers kitchen and canning area. The stove buttons look like ones on the old set for Julia Child. The kids went off to universities, and soon moved out. The parents had no need to remodel, probably travelled a lot. Thanks for the nostalgia and reminiscing the past. Someone salvage that kitchen and those bathrooms fixtures. I will take the washer and dryer. Lol.

Hi Ethan This house is retro cool. I love the three different colored bathrooms. They really didn’t change a thing in this house. That red kitchen was cool too. The basement had some mold and also in some of the bedrooms. That laundry shoot was neat too. Ethan it’s much better when you explore alone or when the other person is in another part of the house. That one guy that was with you in the basement was in my opinion a PEST and I didn’t enjoy the tour with him constantly talking. He stuck to you like glue. Much better when you are there showing us everything alone. I’m not saying go to these places alone but it’s better when you are in one part of house and they are somewhere else. I always say to take a buddy with you. Also a note to you. Maybe you should carry your flashlight in your camera bag. It’s dark in some spots and I’m not just talking about this video. It’s more enjoyable when I can see what you are showing. I’m just saying that’s all. Anyway a good job filming regardless. Keep on doing what you do and stay safe and well while doing it.👍😊😊🏘️🗽

I'm a crocheter. So my fave room was the one in the basement with all of the built-in shelves that could've been the library. I would use it for my yarn room. Plenty of storage for all my crochet books and hooks and yarn.

I wish we could go back to when people took pride in making things like appliances and they took pride in handling them with care when they delivered them to your home. They'd last for 20 years. Nowdays, they don't even last two weeks without them tearing up and you have to call someone to come fix them. I believe it's because they just throw them on and off the trucks. People just don't give a damn anymore. It was a very cool house for sure. All those bookshelves and cubby wholes and hooks for coats, makes me think they might of had a daycare in thier home at one time.

Ethan, was the word you were thinking about to describe the kitchen, perhaps, astro? However, atomic is quiet appropriate since the nuclear testing in the United States pretty much began in the early 1950's. and that kitchen did indeed have that vibe to it. with the automated button's on the stove and and range.
