*Unbelievable* Aquarium fish catching/fishing wild gold fish

G'day mate it's good fun what you do i used to do the same for years I've been all over Australia fish collecting i love our native fish we have some cool stuff for aquarium's a favourite of mine is tiny Mangrove Jack and go into fresh water no problem's. Cool video mate yeah get rid of them Chinese Carp be careful if they a Coi Carp are illegal to have in possession Qld

Good onya mate 👍. Now i know your mission, catching ferals in my home country cks in nw Brisbane 😊. Great mission statement, as it is more fun catching, than7 buying . And. Plenty nof paple live there. Unfortunately goldfish alo return to dull brown, like guppies, platties and swordfish. Unfortunately goldfish there back also in 60 keep having fun. Im old enough to b ur grandad. But i still,enjoy, the what's gunner b in th3. Trap when i bring it up

Any gourami. I caught one and put it on Facebook and was contacted by fisheries who said that they had caught them in the same system since 1965.😮 I used to catch gold fish and swordtails in Brisbane until I moved to Townsville in 1975.

I believe the brown unknown fish is just a regular goldfish, but brown. Also the colourful fish is probably just a released goldfish from the pet store, as koi are illegal in QLD, so coloured ones may be rare.

Golden carp = "Goldfish". 5:25 (Wild-type) Golden carp (Carassius auratus), 8:20 (shubunkin) Golden carp (Carassius auratus), 8:54 same as 5:25 . The wild-type colour is in fact why they are called Golden carp "Goldfish", not in fact the more common cultivated orange colour.

Those goldfish are probably the same species, they revert back to their natural state when left in the wild.

I have moved from the Uk to the Sunshine Coast here in Australia. What are the rules on collecting fish for a home aquarium. Tropical fish like platies etc. cheers. Great videos btw

I'd give the traps a rest for the time been. I never did any good years ago, just after rain, and the fish aren't very active in colder water until the end òf August. When the water warms up 👍

In the United States in Florida they tend to have a lot of success with cat food in fish traps maybe you can try that

You can also try pellets for koi feeding and grinded up cookies

The only confirmed Crucian carp (Carassius carassius) in Australia is in Victoria (Kyneton) 2006, Nearing is more north, in southern Queensland. Despite common belief Golden carp (Carassius auratus) ask "Goldfish" aren't name so because of the typical cultivated orange colour, but in fact because of there gold/bronze wild colour, seen at 5:25 that they typically revert back to after a couple generations living feral. The Golden carp is basically a domestic hybrid species of Crucian carp (Carassius carassius), Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio), Ginbuna carp (Carassius langsdorfii), that was all put together to be raised and left to do their own thing in china's rice paddies for food, end result Golden carp (Carassius auratus), then after several generations they'd throw out a orange or white colour, setting off the beginning of the display fish we have today.
