It shows that we should not heed any word above God's word, whether from an angel or a prophet basically God's word is final and no one can change it . The only confusing aspect is the profound irony that the old prophet mourned for the man of God, despite knowing that his own deceit would lead to the man's death. This paradox highlights the complexity of human behavior, where guilt and regret can coexist with deceit, and serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of straying from divine commands, regardless of the source of the temptation. I am so happy that we have such good content creators for God this type of content is good for the new generation and I feel like we are all one big family thank you so much for all you do may God bless you .

About your 3: this is just based from my casual reading of 1 Kings 13, kindly check to see if interpretation is Biblical/accurate: I COULD BE WRONG, SO PLEASE CHECK FOR YOURSELF: 1. The way the old prophet deceived the young prophet is peculiar, in that he said "an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord", usually a prophet when declaring a prophecy will say "thus saith the Lord", not "an angel said...." See verses below: Fake: -"He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and AN ANGEL SPAKE UNTO ME BY THE WORD OF THE LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him." Real prophecy from 1 Kings 13: -"And he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord, and said, O altar, altar, THUS SAITH THE LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men's bones shall be burnt upon thee." -"And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign WHICH THE LORD HATH SPOKEN; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out." -"For so was it charged me BY THE WORD OF THE LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest." -"For it was said to me BY THE WORD OF THE LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest." -"And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, THUS SAITH THE LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the Lord, and hast not kept the commandment which the Lord thy God commanded thee," 2. Because of what happened to the younger prophet when he disobeyed the word of the Lord that came to him, the old prophet knows for a certain that the young prophet's prophecy is definitely true: -"For the saying which he cried by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, SHALL SURELY COME TO PASS." 3. I find it interesting the lion didn't eat the guy. -"the lion had not eaten the carcase," Anyway, that's my take on it from casual reading. God bless

The story of a prophet reminds me of the nature of a God. God never lies. If there would be someone on the road that would give the guy the meal - He would mention it. But He didn't. Instead, the young man believed someone claiming to hear the word of God and being His prohpet. Imagine Jesus encountering someone saying "Hey, I just spoke with your Father and He said you actually don't need to die. That was a test and you completed it...." Remember in Matthew 16:22-28 when Jesus actually rebuked Peter for saying "Those things will never happen to you..."(Jesus was explaining that He needs to go to Jerusalem, be mocked and get killed). Perhaps this story is a reminder for us Christians to TRUST our God, instead of believing someone who claims there is another encounter of Jesus, angels or another way of salvation despite Jesus... This gives me chills even when I'm writing this... such a deep message.

I always thought to myself why didn't God alert the young prophet but what you both said makes sense. Also it should've been the younger prophets responsibility to at least inquire of God as scripture tells us to test every spirit. Then he would know if the command was actually from God. I believe Pslams 118.8 can be applied here " it is better to put trust in God than put confidence In men". We know we need to be as wise as serpent but as innocent as doves (matthew 10.16) because there are false prophets who come as wolves in sheep's clothing [matthew 7.15] which bible calls ravenous. I know that the donkey and lion symbolizes something but I am unsure right now so if anyone can give suggestions it would be great thanks.

“God is above time,space and matter.” - I think this line kind of sums up all our doubts when people come at Christians from a scientific viewpoint. If God is the creator he has the power to manipulate the laws of physics/chemistry/biology/etc. just how a coder has the power to make changes to a game he created. Naturally yes there are things that are possible and things that are not possible but with the creator/coder everything is possible.

I believe the issue with the young prophet story is that he did not receive nor seek confirmation from the Lord over the words of the old prophet. He trusted the word of a man he didn't know over the word he directly received from God.
@mel9823
@mel9823 4 ай бұрын
Yeah I think this might be it cause I went to read it on my own and I was confused at how God gave him to ability to heal and gave him specific instructions but the minute the old prophet told him God said otherwise, the young prophet didn’t bother to question it or even confirm with God if what the old prophet said was true. AND THEN for the old prophet to turn around and say “you defied God” like he didn’t just lie to the young prophet. Like if this doesn’t scream USE YOUR DISCERNMENT, idk what else to say 😭
@latinoloco28
@latinoloco28 4 ай бұрын
I personally believe this story is about being obedient to God’s word above anyone else. God’s word which is scripture is above any of the “God told me to tell you” stories we hear about especially today. God then used the false prophet to let the young prophet know that judgement has passed upon him for failing to obey his word above anyone else’s. In our day we hear a lot especially in churches people saying “God told me to tell you” stuff that majority of the time isn’t even biblical. Nothing supersedes the word of God. If He tells you something we are to trust in His word and not someone else’s who claims they got word from God. We are to be careful of this deception. God is clearly telling us that in this story.

I actually needed to hear this today. Thanks! I had a similar thought as I watched the video, but I didn't make the connection to my own life, something that happened recently, until I read your comment. The thing that came to my mind as he was sharing about the third story was something my mom told me a couple times when I was a little girl. If a guy ever told me, "God told me to date you," that unless I heard the same thing from God, I should assume the guy is just lying to be with me. Same applies for marriage. 😂

There's a 6th story everyone misses. The story of Lot and what the angels did while at his home. When they stretched their hands forth and magically pulled Lot into the house and closed the door behind him. The Bible clearly states that not only were they standing in the middle of the room, NOT next to the door, but that everyone was both astounded and afraid of the seemingly magical act

Standing between heaven and earth could mean floating in the air and his sword "over" Jerusalem sounds more like a phrase, indicating he would be pointing toward Jerusalem. And yet... We tend to imagine angels as human-like, and there are plenty of such descriptions, but who knows? But to me, a giant angel isn't the first indication I get from the text. The place I understand the Bible depicting a giant angel is in Revelation - the one standing both on shore and stepping in the sea.
@CaptainAbmerica
@CaptainAbmerica 4 ай бұрын
It says he was STANDING, not floating, in the threshing floor of a Jebusite name Ornan, a threshing floor is a flat, circular stone outdoor surface where farmers separate grain from straw and husks to prepare the harvest. It even says he turned around and saw him because he was so close, yet says David "Looked up" to see him. So if he was standing not floating so close to the Jebusite that all he had to do was turn around, yet due to his stature David was able to look up and see him from where he was in order for both these to be true he had to be a giant. Not floating.

I use bible asmr or spoken word bible and turn the volume down. 3. Slowly but surely take away all the things that dont serve the Lord or you. Hot take. #3 is about Jesus and his death. The man of God was from the tribe of Judah (like Jesus) and spoke against the Jewish leaders of his time (like Jesus). He healed the withered hand of the man that tried to seize him, just like Jesus healed the ear of the guard that tried to seize him. When he healed people they wanted to lift him up and reward him. But the man refused and said he was on a mission from God. Just like Jesus did when they kept trying to make him king. He got his bread and water from God, not man, and was to make a new path. The old prophet was the Pharisee’s of his time - although he used to hear from God, he used his position to lie and ended up getting the man of God killed for his sin. He was killed by a lion, symbolising God’s judgement, whilst riding a donkey, symbolising God’s humility like Jesus riding into Jerusalem. And his death was a clear sign to all that witnessed it, with the lion and donkey standing in juxtaposition, both symbolically and even literally with the two men on the cross (one accusing him and the other humbly recognising him). The old prophet then gets his body and buries him in his own tomb, symbolising that his death was in the place of the old prophet and reinforced by the fact he requested to be buried with him (again this literally happened to Jesus and figuratively represents our death with him). In the end what the man says comes to pass and the altar is destroyed, just like Jerusalem was in AD70 like Jesus claimed before they killed him.

#3 is a story cautioning us about peer pressure when we've been given a command from God. The focus was on the young prophet's obedience, NOT the old prophet's lie. Matthew 18:7 tells us that temptation is necessary. This man's mission needed to be challenged, and the old prophet was the guy to do it. God will judge him for his sin, because Matthew 18:7 also condemns those who tempt others, but God judged the young prophet because he disobeyed a direct command from God to him specifically, and that kind of sin could not go unpunished. The old prophet escaped by a loophole, but...Judgment Day is still coming, and he will not escape then.

I have no idea whether or not this could be reasonably explained away, but I believe one day some months ago God briefly gave me a little bit of super speed. I had taken longer than usual in the bathroom due to some unpleasant and prolonged bowel movements, and I was going to be ten minutes late to daily Mass. The walk would ordinarily have been about 20 minutes for that distance, about 0.8 miles on hilly terrain. But I felt called to pray something called the “preparation for mass”, involving St. Ambrose’s prayer, St. Thomas Aquinas’s prayer, a prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a Formula of Intent. While praying this, I walked at what I felt to be a normal, if slightly rushed, pace. By the grace of God, I made the 20 minute walk in only 11 minutes and arrived less than a minute late to the Mass. Take this however you will, but I think it’s a pretty cool little glory story 😁 Vivat Jesus!

The story of the prophet is quite simple and its strange as I was discussing this last weekend. The young prophet believed the word of a man and not God, the young prophet stayed true to the obedience of God's commands until this points where he then believes the word of man where he should have consulted God first. This is also a cautionary tale which teaches us to beware of the words spoken "over us" or "to us" from people who call themselves prophets. We have to test every word we receive with the spirit and The Lord will confirm this for us, just as with Elijah which He called him 3 times. On another hand it also stays true to God's Word and promises stating that IF a man is a prophet and speaks on behalf of God no false word or false prophecy will leave his lips and go unpunished. True to God's Character

I knew all five! 1: I'm not sure we can go by the language of his position to say that the angel was giant. He could have been, I'm just not sure we can say it with certainty. (Also, angels aren't described as having wings. Cherubim and seraphim have wings, but angels typically just look human, if a bit terrifying.) 2: As soon as you said super speed, I knew exactly what this story was. 3: It seems to be a cautionary tale. Man does what God says, gets tricked to go against Him, hears His justice commanded, dies. One more replay of Genesis 3, and a reminder to "test the spirits". 4: I hadn't made that connection, but it certainly fits. I wonder how many other people A, I, and J blessed? 5: Just one more evidence of Jesus' divinity, and one more pointer at the Spirit's divinity in the connections between this story and the other teleportations. Love the new mascot, and the channel is brilliant! You're making great things.

Old prophet & Young Prophet: Sometimes elders allow jealousy of new prophecies of the new age! And use their power to their advantage and at the same time younger generations look up to elders and easily fall for the trap but ultimately… study to show themselves approve and never waiver in your faith! Immediately in the Bible often is used to indicate urgency or intentionality rather than expediency. It was explained to me as simply how their culture spoke. There's also cultural differences such that the order of events in retellings are often given in order of importance rather than chronologically.

The point of the 2 prophets is: Young Prophet received revelation directly from GOD itself. But the old Prophet use angle (which is inferior to GOD) in 1 King 13:18 "The old prophet answered, "I too am a prophet, as you are. And an 👉ANGEL👈 said to me by the word of the LORD: 'Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.'" Conclusion: The Young Prophet disobey GOD command, he put GOD below the old Prophet. Young prophet received revelation or command directly from GOD. But this old prophet is just simply a human, To make it simple: God 🗣️ Young Prophet (Direct from GOD) GOD 🗣️ Angel 🗣️ Old Prophet 🗣️ Young Prophet (Indirectly from GOD)

You have to read the other accounts too and it all comes together the account of mark 6:47 says that the boat was in the middle of the lake meaning they weren’t close to the shore at all and lake Galilee from their leaving point to their destination is about 8 miles long and John 6:19 says they went about 4 miles or 6 kilometers half the distance away It wouldn’t have been fast rowing or the boat moving at a high speed one because John 6:21 says immediately and some other translations say at once not “really fast” Matthew 14:33 says when they received him they all worshipped him so no one was rowing the boat when Jesus got in they all worshipped him and Jesus brought the boat to shore with his teleportation power

I suppose it is theoretically possible that several well seasoned fishermen could miscalculate the distance they had travelled by 100%, or that a storm had somehow blown them so far off course without them realizing, but why would that be necessary? If the God who made heaven and earth and even time itself wants to move a dozen humans across a portion of the earth in no time at all I think he can do it.

Oh wow, that third story is DENSE. Buckle up, this gonna be long. Reading 1 Kings 13, with a little assistance from some commentaries including Guzik, that prophecy about Josiah seems to be for 340 years from the moment he gave it; the fulfillment of which is in 2 Kings 23:15. Not only that, but he went all the way from Judah to Bethel, meaning the Northern Kingdom of Israel had no prophets of its own qualified for this message, and that God's agents don't have to be famous or well-known. To confirm his message, God accompanied an immediate sign to validate that his prophecies are true, including the splitting of the altar and Jeroboam's hand melting, which also serves to demonstrate just how highly God resents those who bring violence upon his ministers. Jeroboam understands his altars won't help him, and for a moment he tries to find favor with God and his representative for healing, which the prophet is gracious enough to plead for on his behalf. God allowed this for a few reasons: to affirm that God is the one who struck him, he repented of the violence (despite not repenting for the actual sin in question: witchcraft), so that his grace might lead him to repentance or failing that would leave him with no excuse for continued engagement in witchcraft. Now the recurring theme of God's instructions for the prophet to not eat or drink in Israel and not take the same road back, this is more interesting. At this point, Jeroboam is fully embracing the man as a friend and wants to reward him to divert from his repentance, which he refuses because of God's warning. The old prophet was an indication that not all the godly people had left Israel. "Probably once a prophet of the Lord who had fallen from his steadfastness and yet not so deeply as to lose the knowledge of the true God, and join with Jeroboam with his idolatries." (Clarke) The old prophet offers the unnamed man the same hospitalities Jeroboam had, and the young prophet refused again. The lie the old prophet tells is especially heinous: but the old prophet made God look like a liar and contradicting himself without any purpose. The reference to the angel speaking to him is likely an internal warning to us to not trust everyone who says they were visited by angels and given isolated messages by God that contradict his previous revelation, case in point, Muhammad or Joseph Smith. It could even have been Satan in disguise as an angel of light 2 Corinthians 11:14-15. The purpose of God limiting the bread and water intake is interesting. Jesus characterizes himself as the bread of life and the living water, so this could perhaps be symbolism for the effect of a Christian not remaining in the word, engaging in healthy prayer life, and otherwise growing complacent in our relationship with the Lord. The young prophet was likely weak from fasting the whole journey, he had respect for his senior prophet, and felt safe in the hands of a fellow man of God who claimed to receive a miraculous message. It's likely he did not appear to be an idolator and offered no reward besides food, so it's no wonder the young prophet trusted the old prophet. Despite this, it was his duty as a man of God to resist it and rely on what the Lord gave him directly, and he should entertain no other word except what comes to him directly with dramatic confirmation by the Lord. God never contradicts himself in his dealings with his servants, so we have a responsibility and assurance to be true to his commands and refuse to be diverted, even by supposed angels from heaven. Now the prophecy of punishment is given through the prophet of Bethel. Despite his lie, he is still a prophet of the Lord and can hear from him. This was an immensely difficult test, but it was still a tremendous failure: no matter how subtle and innocent the temptation to disobey, he should not have dismissed the first command. The young prophet, being God's own child, was judged far more harshly than Jeroboam, a pagan, was. For a body to lie in the sight of people unburied was a massive humiliation and curse, and an equal disgrace to be buried away from your clan or among strangers. This is to exemplify how God's kingdom works: We expect that the ungodly will receive harsher punishments for their sins, but often God is far more strict in disciplining his own people 1 Peter 4:17. This is primarily because God knows the world cannot be reached if his agents are compromised with the enemy. 1 John 5:16-17 outlines the difference of the sin leading to death vs. the sin that doesn't lead to death. If we take clues from 1 Timothy 2 and Genesis 3 in the Fall of Man account, Eve was deceived and became a sinner, but Adam was not deceived; he sinned with full awareness of his actions. Adam watched God create the garden and its creatures, and more importantly he walked with God directly. Eve had no experience with God directly, and Adam had not even given her a name and thus she had no identity when she was deceived. God could not fault Eve for falling for deception, only that she was told by Adam not to eat of the fruit, which is where her sin led to death. God cared much more Adam failed to cover her; he ate the fruit to share in her fate, but when push came to shove, he threw the blame on her and God himself for his mistake; a sharp contrast to Jesus who took our sin upon himself along with its penalty. This is the sin leading to death, that Adam sinned with full knowledge of his sin, which is why God instructed them to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the first place. Likewise, despite being deceived, the young prophet had commit the sin leading to death. Now the punishment, the lion was sent to execute judgement, and had restraint to leave his body as a spectacle for the people. The lion ironically had more obedience than the prophet. The old prophet had sympathy for him and went to collect him. How odd it must've been for him to find the young prophet's body and think, "My sin is worse than his." Burying him in his own grave is both a sign of respect and a fulfillment of God's prophecy, and a confirmation from the Lord of the young prophet's prophecy from the beginning of the chapter. This is also an illustration of the death Jesus would die, a humiliating public execution, where everyone who looked upon it would be warned and diverted of the consequences of sin, but in his case those who look would be restored and healed with him in his resurrection. All things considered, Jeroboam still refused to turn from idolatry. All these signs were wasted on him, and he continued to blur the lines between the offices of king and priest, which is what is understood by a priest of the high places. These stations were designed to be kept segregated to maintain the order of covering and headship of God over Israel, but this elevated the king to the position the High Priest was meant to fill, a perversion of the role Jesus fulfills alone. Jeroboam's actions make him the example of evil for many future kings, as it's literally described of them that they "walked in the way of Jeroboam" doing evil, except for Ahab who was far worse.

As some have mentioned, it is a story about discernment and following God's Word above everything else. The young prophet had more than enough information to know what to do. He was sent to the Northern kingdom of the divided nation of Israel. Jeroboam (first king of the northern kingdom) had basically driven out all the true prophets and priests so that he could institute a false worship of God. Not that it was impossible for there to be an old prophet following the Lord there, but it was very unlikley. God had already given the young prophet his Word, and I'm reminded of what the apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:8, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."

I did remember the story about the giant angel. I just read about it a month ago. Did you remember where it stopped? At the threshing floor. The temple was built on the site of a threshing floor. The threshing floor is a symbol/metaphor for the Christian walk…that you will face trials and tribulations. To thresh is to be beaten. A threshing sledge (with sharp stones in the bottom) was ridden over the wheat, to break it. The winnowing fork was sifted by the wind (the Holy Spirit is the “wind” that helps separate our old man nature…our flesh…which is symbolized by the chaff) and the chaff is blown away, leaving the fruit/grain. (Fruit of the spirit…living through the spirit, and not the flesh). Yes, I did remember the story of Elijah outrunning Ahab’s chariot. I also remembered the story of the 2 profits. I also

The old profit and young story I feel like mirrors Paul’s journey back to Rome. When other men of the lord were prophesying that Paul would be arrested and killed and urged him not to go. But Paul was following what the lord told him to do and would do nothing other then what the lord told him even if it lead him to his death. But it just goes to show we must finish the task the lord has given us personally, and if someone comes with a message from the be lord we test those messages by taking them to the Lord
