This is not the right way to do the mileage test as this will always account residual petrol left behind. The ideal way is to fill the tank full of petrol upto the brim and have a ride (average speed of 40 -50 km/hr) for 50 km ( or nearest petrol pump and note the KM ran) and then fill the petrol again upto the brim (same level as you did first time) and this time note the litres. And now calculate the mileage
