In the animal world, it's either kill or be killed. With focus on some of the most powerful and feared predators in the animal kingdom: lions, cheetahs, polar bears and many more, we see footage of how these incredible animals hunt down their dinner. Nothing is certain when your life is on the line, whilst some hunts go off without a hitch, others manage to escape just seconds away from disaster.

I always get terrified any time I see a baby animal in a wild life documentary. You just know the "aww how cute" is short lived.

Really nice documentary, examining both sides of the predator/prey environment. Many are quick to think prey are helpless and want to save them from being eaten, but don't realize that is taking a meal away from another animal that needs to eat. They don't have grocery stores. It may be hard to watch for some but that is life in nature.

Good call: I was once with a group in the park when we saw a squirrel being hunted and chased by a hawk, and the squirrel was running and darting for his life trying to get to the trees! A couple of women in our group thought we should be throwing rocks a the hawk, but as you say, this was life in nature, and we had to watch it play out. The hawk eventually killed his prey...

@@hurleygreen927 to throw rocks at the hawk...you'd have to turn around and throw rocks at the squirrel because it is an omnivore. Squirrels will eat freshly hatched chicks, as well as other small rodents and insects

Plus animals have enough baby’s where when the ones who do end up as meal the ones who live will continue on with the ecosystem!! If not there would be starvation and disease running rampant! So the predators keep the prey in check plus it ensures the prey stay strong because the fastest and strongest usually survive to pass on their fast and powerful genes !!

The way the single male lion went up to all those Buffalo standing his ground. Was astonishing!! Ultimately they ran him off. But his brave instincts wouldn't allow him to run away at first. He had to show them. He's still the boss. No matter what. That was bad ass!

I think that these type of predators, have much better eyesight than a human. Also, they’re masters at choosing weakness. Sometimes, wildebeest do fight back. But, 3 males are more intimidating. Also, perhaps, the wildebeest herd know who is weaker or ill and step back. They might have stepped up if it were a calf - with the mother being the leader - and, again, if there was only one predator.
