I was assigned to the first AF unit to receive the F4C at MacDill in 1963? I had been working on the 100 series aircraft radios for 4 years and the transition was difficult as all the electronics were totally different. To make things worse the AF slapped a suffix on our AFSC and froze us to that unit when I was in the process of trying to get reassigned back to Japan. I beat the system with the help of a Tech Sargent (friend of a friend) who worked in lower grade assignments. When I got orders dropping the suffix, I knew I was headed back to my Huns. Strange, when you think about the difference between them and the F4s.

I served in Vietnam from March 1969 to May 1969 as an infantry grunt in I Corp out of Danang. In mid March at noon we spotted a group of probably VC humping rations and ammo from the coastal rivers to the mountains up a deep valley. We called in an artillery strike initially and followed that up with an aerial strike which turned out to be to F4s. The aircraft unloaded several 1,000 lb bombs and followed that up with napalm and several gun runs . We sent a patrol into the valley to do a damage assessment. All they found were body parts. Bad day for the VC.

Until they have been at sea for a few weeks. When flying off a carrier they get covered with soot from other aircraft maneuvering on the flight deck, then get rained on and black streaks everywhere and that's not even counting the hydraulic leaks. F4 was a hydraulic fluid sprinkler. The RC plane would be more realistic if owner could make black smoke from the engines.

I was a weapons Specialist on the F4-E in 1968 at Eglin AFB, Fla. The E model was the first and only F4 that had a 20mm Gatling gun mounted in the nose! Six thousand rounds a minute but only carried around 300. This was due to weight restrictions and melting too many gun barrels if fired too long. It was a precursor to the A10 30mm set up. What a fantastic aircraft which could still be flying today! Great model and flight skills. Thanks for the fond memories

@@1tonyboat My introduction to the F4 Phantoms was in December 1966 when we'd just moved to Niceville, FL (dad was in USAF and was in his final years of service before retirement) and we happened to live right where military aircraft flew low overhead preparing to land at Eglin AFB which was a few miles away. These F4's (along with many other USAF aircrafts) would pass overhead very low literally every few minutes apart daily. The Phantoms immediately stood out due to it's unusual design of the wings and rear stabilizers and, of course, the noise of those twin engines. For me, from that time until November 1969 (when we had to move again) it was like having our own airshow daily 24/7. Really miss living there.

F4 Phantom was one of my favorites. I have videos of actual Phantoms flying and this is incredibly 100% accurate. AMAZING WHAT YOU HAVE DONE. Thank you so much, Bobby Estey, USN - USS Constellation CV64 (77-81). BTW, people will be confused about which ROOSEVELT, this is CV42 (FDR), not CVN71 (TR). TR was the greatest :-)

Beautiful aircraft and expertly flown. The scale speed makes it oh so realistic.. In the immelman type climbs the speed is held throughout.

Wow! Was not expecting this! Very nicely done. The scale up is top notch! A beauty for sure. I remember seeing the Air Force T-Birds in F-4s when I was a kid. My Dad was in the AF for 22 years and I was in the AF too for 23 years. So i was exposed to a lot of the AF's inventory of aircraft over the years!

Awesome. The sound almost doesn’t match the slow flight speeds-like it should be going faster. Must be a light plane looked like it had no problem lifting off. 😎

Yes for sure. It came in right at 100lbs.

It's a really great model. The Phantom is one of my favorite planes. He looks so menacing. I wouldn't want to be on the enemy's side. They had so many beautiful markings and camouflages. The marking of the VF-111 squadron was one of the nicest.

I just happened to come across this wonderful film of an RC aircraft that I could swear was the "real McCoy" so to speak. And that landing was simply superb. You have truly achieved a level of excellence that I never thought could be attained in an RC aircraft; and an F-4E phantom to boot! Kudos to all involved. Lastly a heartfelt thank you Jonathan!

Really amazing F4 model. I grew up near USMC air station saw & heard them all the time … my Dad worked on them. All that’s missing is the thunder rumble & black smoke
