I love how Karl Jobst's reaction to someone potentially beating his record is overwhelming excitement rather than any kind of jealousy or resentment. This is community-building competition at its best.
@9308323Ай бұрын
As it should be. Sure, you can be a little frustrated because of the hours spent, but feeling jealousy or resentment over this just meant you have some serious mental issues and in need to touch some grass. These techniques would still help you get better records.
@MiseRaenАй бұрын
His mindset is 'Can I beat that?' meanwhile that other guy has to use everything to keep everyone down so as to not beat his faked records.
@briondalionАй бұрын
I mean, speedrunning has always been (for most speedrunners), about trying to just figure out how to beat a game the fastest, no matter who has the WR. The true enjoyment comes from seeing faster and faster times being achieved by anyone (so long as they're not cheating their records) For instance the SM64 records were perhaps one of the greatest things in speedrunning I have witnessed recently. I just love watching a player move flawlessly through a game for the fastest times. I'm basically cheering for them to get a new WR. I rarely speedrun, if I speedrun games it's completely punishing and I don't have any scores or runs submitted, but souls like games...specifically Valheim, I enjoyed speedrunning all the bosses that were available in the game at the time. I watched someone else speedrun, then I practiced on the easiest seed I could find to get practice against all the bosses. But that game, for instance, the faster you move through it, the more mobs spawn and go after you.

The thing with your original 52, Karl, you had 2 boosts before the gate. Getting 2 boosts before the gate is equivalent to the new strat. Plus, if you get even a boost, you still have to wait for the guard to open the 2nd gate. It's almost impossible to get even 2 boosts after the gate since there's only one guard attacking Bond and the other at the alarm. Now, it might be possible to shoot the alarm guard to stop his animation of going after the alarm, but instead Bond. However, boosts are extremely rare on Agent since guard's accuracy are shit! But that's my best bet to go by!

No crazy precise setup where you need to backflip into the wall to clip slightly into it so you can make a perfect long-jump onto an invisible floating platform that lets you skip a loading trigger. No need to carry around a rusted chamber pot that can only be found in one specific location on the map that, for some reason, makes you immune to damage. No exploit where you animation swap your weapons so instead of doing melee damage with your sword an infinite amount of rockets spew out of your characters face. Just an extremely simple routing change made possible by using settings that no one was using. What makes it even better is that when you look at it from an outside view it *seems* really obvious. Like "duh obviously increasing the FoV of my character will let me load things sooner because the sides of my screen are further apart". Its perfect and I love it.

I'm so glad you mentioned that the opening clip was of you doing that speed run, because there was a fleeting moment when I thought, "I didn't realize Jake Busey was a gamer!" LOL love your videos!

I like how Karl doesn't mention his record, he just flashes it subtly for a second while showing the record list.

I wonder if he's going to cover Elon faking the situation. I'm not sure if he will, but I feel it falls into the category of cheating or faking.

Goldeneye was the reason I started watching this channel. Love when there are new developments in this game. This was a highlight of my adolescent years. People used to pay me $5 to borrow their cartridge and I would get all the cheats for them and give it back to them the next day at school. 😅 I can't even get near any of these records.
