Dimebag's guitar is so emotive. And Phil's vocals are so smooth and soulful.

@@seancarter3075False. Vinnie and Dime knew. That's bullshit 90% of the fan base believes. No offense. Before u potentially get triggered (hopefully u dont) *I still own the magazine with Vinnie laying out the plan for pantera in 2002 where he explains DOWN, Rebel Meets Rebel & Home video #4* would be released. Phil followed through while the brothers panicked and Dimebags planned solo album became Damageplan. The band went on a PLANNED BREAK which is a well *documented* FACT 99% of the fan base has forgotten after the VH1 BTM PANTERA EPISODE put out their revisionist history bullshit. Watch any Pantera concert from 2001 final tour and they even tell the fans every single night on tour.

I've been a huge rock n roll, heavy metal and some rap/r and b fan for 50 yrs now. Out of all the singers I've heard including Robert plant,Freddie Mercury etc I honestly believe ansalmo had the best voice especially in cemetery gates. This is my first time seeing this channel and seeing a beautiful African American woman get turned on by Pantera was cool as hell.
@shanestachwick4784Ай бұрын
Dimebag had a real talent for writing and playing guitar parts that sounded like they were intended for a human voice. For this reason I like to think of Pantera as a band with one vocalist, but two singers. If you, random comment reader, haven’t heard the version on the album with the acoustic guitar opening, go find that right now. Thank me later.

There was an old superstition in the American South where people would lock their doors or roll their car windows up while passing a graveyard so ghostly hitchhikers would not catch a ride. Also, it was considered bad luck to allow a funeral procession to pass your house if your windows and curtains were open or your door was unlocked. It was considered to be inviting spirits into your house. The idea of unlocking your door and passing the cemetery gates is like saying you are inviting trouble and bad spirits into your life. This song is about a suicide pact between two people where only one followed through with the pact.
@integrity101Ай бұрын
No. Wrong. This song is NOT in any way about a suicide pact. That's wikipedia non sense. The lyrics were inspired by two suicides by Phil's friends. He wrote the song as a love song to not be disrespectful to them and per Anselmo himself, the song is clearly about STRENGTH & moving FORWARD with life, hence pass the CEMETERY GATES. It is 100% NOT about any suicide pact.
