Hayes was a Wisconsin legend and was beloved by the whole fan base. Wisconsin stuff sells extremely well especially the big name guys, with that being said because he didn’t pan out in the NBA he didn’t sign in many products I think he has autos in two sets and contenders being the better set. I think you can realistically expect $50-$60 for this card. Great video!

If you type in his name with auto there is only 2 results. Definitely more than 2 collectors of this guy which is why the price is so absurd. I love collecting guys who aren't in many sets because when they play well their value goes up 10 fold.

Having spent the first 19 yrs of my life and being a lifelong Wisconsin Badgers & Marquette Warrior fan the best I can figure that Hayes card value is because Wisconsin fans are on another level when it comes to supporting their teama and players. With him being on the team that went to back to back FFs & blew the title game vs Duke in 2015 he has to hold a special place in those folks hearts & some are willing to overpay for his cards because he was far from a great player. That hot mic moment when he said the reporter lady was beautiful was frickin awesome...glad you brought that up

As others have mentioned, beloved player, key part to huge teams for Wisconsin. I’d like to point out - while it is not backed by any number - there are a handful of guys who are short printed / didn’t sign a lot. One of my friends has been trying to complete the entire auto set for years and some, like Hayes, have been slim in availability. I’d also mention my Arizona Wildcats have two autos - Lauri Markkanen and Kobi Simmons. Lauri base autos were fairly expensive pre 2022 and have only increased since this season. Kobi currently has zero base autos listed on eBay right now, and his /99’s list for $50. Just a good looking set too.

Good to see you picking up more NBA stuff today. I sold a few autos to my local card shop in Oz, got 20 for one and just a few bucks each for the rest, I was happy with that deal, not profit but not far off.

Hayes was a beloved player at Wisconsin, a pretty popular school/program when it comes to cards. I believe he only has one or two products with autos out there. A little farfetched on price though IMO. $33 auction might get ya $45-50, but anything more than that you’re getting a sucker. Last sold on the /99 was $55 and that was still coming down from the peak in 2022.

Cost efficiency isn’t something I consider, because I’d do this for fun. I do well though….2 -3 hours is what I spend typically, I’d like to spend more honestly. I find plenty to justify that time :)
