Everyone who's ever been through or close enough to a tornado has always said that the sky gets this green color, and although you can kind of see it in videos, it's something else when you're actually going through it.
@texasstormchasers Жыл бұрын
Greenage!
@flickwtchr Жыл бұрын
Not sure if it's a fact, but I've heard the explanation if the conditions are right the light can become green refracting through the hail core which makes sense since so many super cells that form tornados have large hail cores.

Amazing experience to watch that forming. I saw one after its forming east of Warrensburg Missouri in 2000. We could only see the edge of the storm so we turned off of 50 highway to go get better views oh boy did we . It looked like a giant triple layer cake with tons of white icing running off the top and down the sides. As we got closer you felt tingling. So we turned around just in time because the storm suddenly shifted towards us.

4:15 is the only video I've ever seen that can accurately show what I've tried to explain for years. In 2009, I was driving to Dallas from Shreveport on I-20. Around 4 PM, I went under a dark wall cloud, and it was darker than night time once you were under it. It was relatively calm wind wise, no debris, but there was sediment floating in the air. You could barely see the car right in front of you, and there was no rain. I tried calling my mom to see if there was a tornado near me, but my calls kept cutting off. I was able to get the mile marker and general location to her before I couldn't call back anymore. Eventually, I decided to keep driving instead of sitting there, and got back into the sunlight. I was able to call my mom and she said there was a large tornado a couple miles to the right of where I was (North). I've never seen anything else happen since then that caused it to be that DARK during broad daylight. It was truly something you would expect out of Stranger Things
