Growing up in the 80's one of the sickest race bikes was the "Titan"...totally titanium race bikes. Legendary. Those were the days! I rode a Profile mini cruiser and a Free Agent. Also had a Hutch Pro Racer. We bmx'd for years here in northern California. Anyone remember the U Hills?!! Epic dirt jump spot. Mike Miranda and Tim Judge (Hutch riders) were on cover of BMX Action magazine riding the U Hills. Such great memories!

I've been on the phone with Brooklyn these last few days specing out my new set of wheels and tires. I have a set of modern-day GT Superlaces that I dropped off a month ago to my local bike shop. They both came new with massive hub wobble from center. It wasn't until I handed over my wheels that I noticed their shop had ZERO BMX. Not even parts. They said the tourists want cruisers. The older locals with money do high end road or trail and the local kids are too poor to ride anything more than a Wal-Mart bike. I can't believe they believe that so much, they are willing to not even make quality BMX an option. I tried my best to spend local, but they can't true a set of pre-stripped down wheels inside of a frigging month. So I called SC Bicycles to get a quality build from BK All Day. That people in that shop have given me days and days of entertainment. This is my 1st ever set of custom wheels. The least I could do is give them my money. Stand with Scotty. Love Jay's Sister.

I rode for hell on wheels demo team when I was a teen ager. We had an account with the bike shop before Scotty bought it. The bike mechanic with long white beard gave me a bottom bracket cone spacer like that. Not as fancy. I believe he made it. I used to run my chain so tight so my cranks didn’t spin. Great memories u brought up! Thanks guys. What’s that mechanics name? He still around. I do remember seeing him in the alli bmx show Scotty did years ago. Best!

The primary advantage of the material is that at a given stiffness, carbon fiber is significantly lighter than aluminum, steel, or titanium. This lower density also means carbon frames do a better job of absorbing (rather than transmitting) road vibration, which translates into a more comfortable ride.

My race bike ran Profile cassettes with titanium axles, titanium cassette driver, titanium spokes and Sun rhyno lite rims. Aluminum Avent frame with carbon fiber Avent/Bombshell forks. Profile cranks with titanium euro spindle. Shimano clipless pedals. It a Pro XL and weighs 20 lbs at the moment. I have been looking at the carbon fiber rims which are considerably lighter than the rhyno lites and you can run disk brakes. I would probably buy a new frame + forks if I went carbon rims instead of sun ringle rims.

Great video. Enjoyed it alot. 17lbs. Damn. Learned a lot about titanium, never knew it failed catastrophically like it does . Maybe as a penalty in the contests like pumping the tires up to 200, 5,10 lbs at a time. Spit shine the bikes to the guys approval for time and for detailing. But have a muddy situation to jump over or ride through, use you're imagination but not with the DK prestige titanium bike. Use a different bike for him that day.

BB if you read comments, peep this pro tip: You guys have had a lot of jello in recent videos. Your shutter speed is too high. Look into Neutral Density filters to reduce the amount of light coming into the camera. Your shutter speed should be double your frame rate. That's hard to do when it's mid day. Hence the ND filter. Cheers amigos!

@thinkdrinks3845 жыл бұрын
@@hallowedbethygame2840 That is true but I'm looking at his project from another angle. Let's say he sets up his bike with the lightest parts possible simply to get the lightest bike record or at least bragging rights. Then takes it out for a spin to prove it is a real bike and functions. Job done, he has the lightest bike! Then after his accomplishment is recognized he can switch back to whatever parts he feels comfortable thrashing with on a day to day basis. You see in my mind it needs to only work long enough for the recognition making his task a lot easier. He could also for instance use road bike tape for bar grips, run the bike brakeless, plastic pedals, narrower tires, and a lighter chain, all for the purpose of bringing it under 14 pounds which I think is a stretch, but possible.
