To be honest the majority of us thought Ngannou wouldn't last past four rounds. I thought Ngannou would throw wild hooks and lack in defence, but he actually looked like a decent boxer here. He was composed, didn't throw wild shots, changed stances, had good movement, tight defence covering his head and body, decent jab. This is probably one of the most surprising fights I've seen. Never thought Ngannou would stand a chance but here we are. But I actually believe Fury massively underestimated Ngannou like us all. He came in under prepared and was punished for it.

Tyson himself has continually said that he didn't take Ngannou for granted. He knew Francis was a legit fighter and that new boxers are very unpredictable and he was preparing for that. Tyson had a 12 week training camp to iron out his gameplan which is in fact the longest camp he's ever been in. I'll take it from the horse's mouth, he wasn't underprepared, Ngannou surprised him.

Amazing performance from Ngannou, for me Fury still just shaded it by a round because he was slightly more active in most of the close rounds. All it came down to was more experience in those moments over a long career. Round 8 was probably the most impressive from Ngannou as it looked like Fury was starting to go through the gears in the 6th and 7th and I thought maybe Francis was tiring with his punches becoming wilder. But he just threw Fury around the ring in the eighth and clubbed him with all types of shots. Even including the knockdown in the 3rd I thought the 8th was the most dominant and telling round in the fight. Pity Francis couldn't keep his foot on the gas in the 9th, he would have won the fight with one more round to his name. I thought the 1st and 9th were the two rounds most clearly in Fury's favour, the rest there were 1-2 punches in it.

The fact that Ngannou far exceeded expectations, I believe, is what's clouding the minds of people who think he won. But Ngannou had two spectacular rounds and one decent one in the 9th, which you can clearly give him. In the rest of the fight, Fury was the volume puncher who connected more, and boxing uses a point system. Given those rules and the reality, Fury pulled it off, albeit slightly.
