Cam car does the same thing. Using the bonnet as a reference, look at where the white line is at the start compared to where it is near the the end of the clip. Not only that, cammer is also closing the gap. Couple all this to the clown coming in the opposite direction, made this extremely dangerous.

Because people in the UK don’t like people overtaking anything, don’t you know it’s highly dangerous to overtake and it’s illegal! As soon as you see someone trying to overtake you, you must put your foot down to close the gap up in front of you to stop them being able to safely pull into the gap in front of you. It’s the same if you are heading towards an overtaking car, you must pull to the white line and flash you headlight repeatedly, even though they have been back on the right side of the road for 10 seconds before you pass 🤷

You're so right about cyclists - there is a big proportion of British people who yell at them if they ride on pavements, but also get angry if they need to overtake them on the roads. They can't win. I've been shouted at in both situations when on my bike. People like the van driver should campaign for the government to massively increase spending on Dutch-style cycling infrastructure if they don't want to share the roads with bikes...

@@terrystratford1235 Yes, technically the police can issue fixed penalty notices for pavement riding - but many UK pavements are shared bike/ped paths denoted by round blue signs which confuses matters (I couldn't tell if the one in the video was one of these). We have no coherent design standard in this country - if we were like the Dutch and that path was for cycling, it would have red tarmac making it clear for everyone. But yes, that van driver definitely needs a talking to - he clearly just hates cyclists. I bet he wouldn't have overtaken and then stopped in front of a slow moving tractor and yelled at the farmer if it had been holding him up!

@iamjoestafford I don't cycle, but if I did and a pavement was available.....I'd take it! Far safer! The cycle lane.....that upsets drivers, when they don't use them and stick to the road! I'm hgv driver. It can be very difficult to overtake if I have to crawl behind them! Fully loaded it takes some distance to overtake at 1.5m , so in the opposite lane! If need be and I can't overtake in a safe legal manner...I stay behind! I may give a small toot on the approach just to let them know I'm there! I'd rather spend 10mins at cycle speed, than risk killing someone! I have a clean licence, I want to keep it that way!

Undertaking is not illegal if a car is lane hogging and it's safe to do so. If the Police Scotland vehicle was travelling at 40mph in a 50mph stretch of roads' overtaking lane, then undertake if safe to do so.

If someone is slow on the right doesn't mean everyone on the left has to slow down to match the car on the right. If you're driving within reason and not switching lanes it is not an undertake but simply keeping up with the traffic. While on the motorway that logic doesn't apply. On normal routes within normal speeds it is not careless driving.

I've witnessed guys on ebikes like @0:52 drive like that here in Wales with vehicles limited to 20mph, bikes can legally go faster as the speed limit does not apply to them. I even seen one deep in conversation on his phone while overtaking. Stupid is as stupid does 😉

That was an illegal ebike, to go that fast without pedalling means it counts as a motorbike and needs a number plate, insurance and the rider must wear a helmet. The motors must cut out at 15.5mph, and you have to pedal, it's something like 2moh is allowed without pedalling.

With the hard shoulder chase at 3:05, the commentary gives the impression the police car chased the VRS because the VRS was undertaking on the hard shoulder. I suspect the VRS was undertaking on the shoulder because it was trying to get away from the chasing police car. Stolen VRS maybe? I do wonder about police chases and whether they'd just be better off following (in an unmarked car) the suspect car from a safe distance and not trigger a dangerous chase? Just follow the suspect to their destination and nick them there.

The speed is irrelevant, if they aren't overtaking the car on the left then they should move to the lane on the left. Just from a safety point of view it is utterly daft to sit in the blind spot, at the same speed, of a car in the adjacent lane.

Privately owned ones are not allowed to be used on roads, and you can get 6 points on any licence you might have for riding an unregistered, uninsured illegal motorbike.

If anyone wishes to insist on being childish and classifying all drivers as the same then that is only going to equally reinforce many people's perception of 'all' cyclists. Perhaps the more balanced approach is to accept that there are good and bad drivers as much as there are good and bad cyclists. I also tend to suspect that those who are the worse when they are behind the wheel are the same people who are the worse when they are on their bikes. So maybe car drivers are not necessarily the arseholes, but those who make such quotes might be.

We Dutch like cyclists: we are all one ourselves. Our kids cycle to school and back, our former prime-minister cycled to his job and back,we cycle in the weekend with our kids, grandma's and grandpa's cycle through the dunes, forests to the supermarket. We cycle to our job if we do not need a car, teachers cycle to their jobs, police cyclists through cities and villages, we have ultra modern bicycle infrastructure. Everybody has the right to ride on save roads. Parents learn their children to ride bicycles next to them on the road and bicycle paths. In university city Nijmegen they le traffic lights go on green when they detect cyclists because of the cupper detection loops in the bicycle paths' tarmac. Come, visit our country and step into the 21st century....
