Reckless energy. First 10 seconds of the fight you could see the calculation from Barnett and only a lucky punch was going to win it for Burns. None the less a good fight.

Correct call. Barnett deserved the win.Regardless of extra energy or heart Burns was swinging wild and missing too often while getting clipped too often on the way in and way out. And that was down to Barnett being technically superior. Better range of shots in the pocket too. Good scrap though

07:10 hands on waist level make it easier to dodge back with a lower center of gravity. It also is a way of making your opponent think you're "wide open" and easy to get hit, but it's never that easy.

@mr.worthington62014 жыл бұрын
Damn, what a good battle. How are these warriors not breaking their hands?
@oceandark30443 жыл бұрын
Actually a good question. I know this was probably a bit of a rhetorical question, but for anyone wondering... One of the answers is the wrap. The bones of their hands are held tightly together, which makes the whole hand assembly a lot more rigid. that keeps some of the more delicate bits from being injured and, unless you hurt a finger, you're at that point risking the larger, nastier bones of the hand made for contact (the entire reason your knuckle bones are so pronounced is that they are meant as natural defense implements). Also, if you watch the punches, you'll see they aren't thrown at the major points of resistance. If you punch someone square in the forehead, you're likely to break your own hand (that's a really strong bone). What they're trying to do is cause rotation in the head, which is what you want to do to cause an actual knockout, but it's also useful for causing the kinds of glancing blows that cause lacerations. This is an individual discipline, separate from gloved boxing, and throwing many gloved-style punches would do exactly what you'd expect them to. I know a lot is made about how much more 'brutal' bareknuckle boxing is because of the wounds that open on the face, but boxers tend to compete with 10 oz gloves (that's a little more than half a pound on each hand) and that weight is all in padding that allows them to drive their hand harder. So while the superficial injuries can certainly be more shocking in bareknuckle, that's not necessarily the case, and you have far fewer of the weighted impacts that cause more traumatic brain injuries. There's so much extra technique that was lost when the gloves went on, and it's nice to see bareknuckle boxing getting back to, if maybe occasionally uglier injuries, a higher potential level of technical boxing.
