It was a friend kiss. Totally devoted to their families but dear friends. They toured together on many occasions and also made a Christmas Album together. Olivia called John her favourite singer. Check out them singing Dare to Dream at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics. They also sang that song fifteen or so years later on their Two Strong Hearts tour. Their voices were just as beautiful all those years later. Thanks for your reactions to John. You are getting to know why we all love him.

The camaraderie between John, Olivia and Anthony Warlow was just magic. I hope you get to react to some more of The Main Event concert. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. This is one is 10 all day every day, in my book too. John is devoted to his wife ...but the freindship between Oilvia and John goes back to the 60's when they were both starting out as teenagers. They remained lifelong freinds and have toured together several times and recorded a few albums together as well. John's wife Jill gave him permission to kiss Olivia every night for 3 months while they toured with the Main Event Concert. A bit of a standing joke. John was devastated when Olivia passed away. And not long after, he was also diagnosed with cancer....he had to have part of his jaw removed...but is now recovering well. There was recently a documentary movie released about his journey to the top and Olivia was one of the people interviewed and was one of her last interviews before she passed. ❤

This was from the main event concert, the whole concert is worth watching, its beyond amazing and even though John Farnham is older, his voice and range is still amazing. 👍👍👍 You may have done a couple John Farnham songs, but you have barely scratched the surface 😁 so much more amazing songs to choose from.

The love and respect for each other was pure and cemented in a deep friendship of many many years. They were a little concerned with Olivia being strong enough for this epic tour of The Main Event as she was still a little fragile after her chemo treatment for breast cancer. But she was amazing and well looked after. I think it was very therapeutic for her. The other Main Event singer in the show was Anthony Warlow our Aussie Opera/Musical singer who also did duets with both John and Olivia in the show. If you want to see John being introduced to opera and having too much fun lol you should check out his duet with Anthony when they sing 'Granada' I'm loving your reaction my friend....glad this one got a ten out of ten lol. Definitely a friend kiss, but the atmosphere was electric, they were both hopelessly devoted to their own families. Another duet worth checking out is John's duet with one of his back up singers, Lisa Edwards with the song Angels. Here you will also see John's comedic side, but the song will also give you goosebumps.

It's about "living" the song as opposed to just performing the song. You mention the shoulder touch - 99.9% of female singers would turn & look straight at the male singer - Olivia looks at his hand 1st then follows through to look at him....such a small thing - but makes the interaction so much more honest. It's full of those little "bits" that give it such a powerful truth.

I saw John in an interview and that concert lasted 3 months. He told us he had his wife’s Jill’s permission to kiss Livvie once a day for 3 months. Jill and Olivia were also great friends. John was the last person Olivia called before she passed and the end was with her family. I want her back along with John’s best friend and manager Glenn Wheatley and Judith Durham from the Seekers. The last 15 months sucked. Now I can hear my Nana saying, If wishes were horses the beggar’s would ride. Stay with the Main Event Concert and listen to John and Anthony Warlow singing Granada. It is silly and funny and wonderful. Thank you and I love that ten.

This was part of the concert called THE MAIN EVENT. I have given you the link in one of the other John ones - quite a few links. Also note that Liv and John got together 2 years later as I think this was 1998 - and in 2000 they did the song DARE TO DREAM at the Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. That was spectacular and they walked through all the athletes as they were singing. Over the years they worked on and off together, and I believe their last concert together was to do with the 2019/2020 bushfire appeal, probably in Sydney. It's on YT I think, just haven't looked for it. You will find the whole 2.5 hour concert of THE MAIN EVENT worth watching on YT. If you have trouble getting it to work, think VPN and change to Australia. That applies to the Olympic one too. I put a long spiel on one of your other videos with heaps of links.

Your reaction to both versions of this song was excellent. If you are interested, there is a third version, where he is interviewed by Ray Martin, he is asked to sing this with no warning, or warm up. Apart from that there is a lot of chat and comedy, which shows another side of him, and one of the reasons we love him so much.

as others have said it was a friend kiss (Great mates) plus it suited the song. The other performer in this concert was Anthony Warlow who is more of an opera singer well known for his performance in the Australian version of "Phantom of the opera". At different times during the concert while singing song they made it seem as if they were competing for Olivia's affection, all in fun. The main event performances are worth a look, a couple of funny ones between John and Anthony

About the kiss, friendly peck yes, both happily in relationships with others, but always were very close, like brother and sister. Both had the similar history - leaving England as children, heading to Melbourne, Victoria, starting their careers in the same building (I think) in Melbourne in the 1960s. She was born 1948, him 1949. She has been quoted as saying that John was her favourite male singer. They didn't live similar lives though. John was approached to replace Freddie Mercury back in the day but declined because he didn't want to upheaval his family and move to the US. He was more an Aussie wanting to stay in Oz. Liv on the other hand would go anywhere to further her singing career and initially moved back to the UK and was on Cliff Richard's show and he pointed her in the direction of Nashville and we all know the rest. She was back and forth living in NSW from time to time. She spent an extended period in her house in NSW just outside of Sydney in a beautiful area when she was convalescing after her first cancer scare and surgery in 1992 I think. I'm guessing she spent some time with John then too. She was happily married with Matt Lattanzi and he was working on the Gold Coast on a sitcom while they were here.

@barnowl I got the info on John and Queen from a news article online. I can't recall - just looked it up. I didn't follow John's career until recently. I was into David Cassidy and ABBA and Liv and Sherbert back in the day. Yes Matt had an affair with Chloe's babysitter while Liv was working and stuffed up his marriage because of it. Liv couldn't trust him again. He then went onto marry the woman and had a longer marriage with her than Liv, about 10 years. He remained a bachelor after that. He's now 63 or 64. Back when Matt and Liv were in Australia was around 1992 and I think the split was 1995. I also recall them being in Australia during the bicentennial year 1988 (in January) for a special Liv did and Chloe turned 2 while there.
