Good video. I hiked it on Nov 2nd. It was a pretty good Hike. I hiked it early, hitting the trail at about 8:30am and didn't encounter another human till the descent! It was a little training exercise for my upcoming trip to Algonquin Peak in ADK in Feb.

Slide is an enjoyable hike, we continued on to Cornell and started Wittenburg before turning back for the day. I highly suggest Indian Head in the Catskills, a little bit of different types of scenery, coves, streams and scrambling throughout. Looking ahead to completing the entire Devil's Path hike sometime soon, great Vids!

Slide mountain is one of my favorite places on the planet, right along with Mt. Marcy in the Adirondacks. I first climbed them both as a kid waaaay back in the 1960s and '70s, and still return there from time to time. After hiking Slide, I suggest people check out nearby Claryville (about 12 miles away) where they can find a nice meal at the Blue Hill Café and get a look at the picturesque Halls Mill Covered bridge a few miles southwest of the village. Thanks for your excellent commentary on this beautiful place.

You have quite the history with this place! And good post-hike suggestion, I'll have to check out Claryville for myself ;) Glad you enjoyed the video!

I moved to Colorado from Texas. I have been lucky to have been healthy enough to have hiked up to Colorado's highest peak, Mt. Elbert.It is 14,443 feet high!!! I probably gained approximately 3,000 feet in elevation. Believe me, it wasn't easy!! :-)

Slide Mountain is a "Rain Forest"
@combatace4232 жыл бұрын
Ironically enough, the Catskills through the months of March-early July receive the most inches of rain in New York State. Also as a resident of the area around the foothills of the Catskill mountains, I can say it rains at least once a day or every other day until maybe mid July.

Easy hard ? Is this a hike for the out of shape fat guy? How long did it take you ?
@UnboringExploring5 жыл бұрын
Hey again, Harry - I'd say this hike were moderately strenuous due to the continuous uphill to the top. The hike is about 7 miles and will take you 4.5+ hours to finish, depending on your physical fitness. Find more info on this hike here: www.nynjtc.org/hike/slide-mountain-highest-peak-catskills-loop

Thanks for making this video. A bit of advice for making them even better: fewer big words, maybe less speaking overall, and read in a slow, relaxed tone. We wandered to your nice vid to find escape; slow, calming quiet narration will gain you all the additional viewers who are searching for that. Thanks again!
