Mine kept on having a carriage jam... turned out there is a white wire ribbon at the top of the printer that would tangle with the printer head assembly and prevent it from moving right, applied some tape to that ribbon to stick it to the roof, and worked. Trip to repair depot saved... shoddy design work HP!!!

I saw this a lot too while looking for these models' common issues, it seems that the encoder tape keeps on getting dislodged from the position read sensor on these models.

Just got mine today. Seamless process although I had the black, blue, and yellow spill in my finger while I was removing the lid. Excited to daily drive this printer. Although my country does not apply for the extended warranty :( THANKS HP 💪

Print heads won't stop in the middle - they just keep going back and forth and then stop all the way to the left. Display says E4! cartridge icon cartridge icon. I reset it. Still no go. Any ideas?

I couldn't put my printer HP Smart Tank Plus 555 in operation. After fillng up all black, cyan, yello & magenda colored inks as described, I turned the power on. Despite visible tanks full with ink, only cyan and yellow colors's symbols blink on screen, meaning no/not enough ink inside. They insist blinking, no matter what. (Turn off & on again etc. => no change). Than I opened the front cover and the inner door afterwards. Guess what, printheads's housing is not moving to central position but stands still on the leftmost position. (assumably due to 2 color tanks sensor signalling as empty). So I can't plug the delivered printing heads either. Don't know how to solve ??? Pls. help !!!

Dear HP. How do you make a printer, but you do not sell the parts???? Been looking for a new Print head for 5 months with no luck. HP service centre in Saudi Arabia is also no help at all. I want to return this useless printer but I cant get a refund. Only did 300 pages on the priter and its giving a print head error on the colour. No spares mean I just wasted my money!!!!

Sharing is caring: Bought HP printer and had multiple quality issues. I regret buying HP printer. Their aftersales support is just HORRIBLE! Their customer support is very slow to respond and just gives copy and pasted answers without even reading customer's reply. For those planning to buy, do yourself a favor: buy a better quality printer. HP printer is simply NOT worth your hard-earned money.
