✧ i spent the first 2 years of my skating journey noot-nooting at the rink to decompress from school and work ahahaha. didn't learn singles until i was skating twice a week in jan 2022.
✧ my first two pairs of skates were jackson mystiques and jackson competitors (and their attached blades) of the same size 😭 the mystiques were second-hand, and the competitors were bought through amazon lol. because they were bought without guidance, i didn't realize that the half-size up were too big for figure skates!
✧ the edea concertos + superice x-pro blades were my third pair, almost 3 years into skating. i wanted to try a different brand 😬 as they were bought through a third-party seller, i didn't get a professional fitting and ended up with boots that were too long and too skinny. learned a lot from them, though! :')
✧ before i decided on jackson elite pros, i asked skaters edge if they had boots that could fit my current blade length, which is why they offered to sell me risports. they were very helpful when i made it clear that i wanted to get jacksons instead.

I'm in Jackson Premiere rn (gonna move up to the synergy pro as my next boot) and I absolutely love Jackson after being in a brand before that were waaaay too wide for me! I have super narrow feet so a R fitin Jackson is perfect! Jacksons fit of the toe box being 1 size wider than the heel is perfect for me, they're literally comfier than some of my street shoes 😂 just a bit sad with how soon my premieres started breaking down (5 months) so I hope next time I won't get that issue!

omg i didn't realize that premieres break down that fast! perhaps it's the amount of skating you're doing per week? i'm glad they work out for you + don't cause pain, though! 🙏

I got Jackson premiere with double wide as my first pair of boots. But later on i switched to edea concerto, but bought 1 size up, so that my skate tech can stetch the toe box to make it fit my super wide toes. I also inserted insole for arch support. My feet feel much more comfortable in edea, and i don't need bunga pad for my ankle anymore. (I didn't have much pain in toes before)

i had such a difficult time finding the rocker of my blade on my old concertos + always toepicked out of spins 😭 arch pain during edge/turn drills was excruciating too! i'm glad edeas work for you though, we truly all have different feet hahaha

Very glad to have watched this video! We have quite similar feet, in that mine are super wide and completely flat as well. I have no arch. Luckily I started out in Jacksons (Artiste) from the beginning, and just upgraded to Freestyle. However, I did looks at Edeas because they were supposed to be amazing and popular and what not. But my skate tech recommended Jacksons and I'm super happy with that. I also wear insoles for arch support, my skate tech was able to cut them to the shape of my skates. I get them orthopedically made for my every day shoes, but they do wonders in my skates as well. I get to skate in my Freestyles for the first time on saturday, and I've literally been waiting 3 months for this :´´)

oh man, i got to this comment so late but i am so excited for you! 3 months is a While to wait for new skates! i think at this point, you're on your way to completely breaking in your new freestyles! i hope they've helped you improve your skating elements! :D

@@addiesalad Hey!! Thanks! I've almost skated in them for a month now, and oh my word they have done wonders for my jumps! My toe loop is so much better and I'm able to land combo jumps like waltz-loop and salchow-loop. My spins disapeared for a hot minute but thankfully they're back🤣 I'd love some bunga pads though, they get quite sore around the ankle when I tie them...

hi! i'm not sure what brand you're looking into buying, but the stiffness ratings (which i assume the 'rate for duty' is) is directly correlated to your skating level, i.e. if you're working on advanced elements, then you'll need stiffer boots. stiffness ratings change with the brand, too! coach julia and everglide skating on youtube have some videos about this. i personally started out with jackson mystiques (that degraded far too quickly), and then moved onto jackson competitors; competitors are not in stock anymore though, but beginners taking lessons at my rink are in either jackson freestyles or edea overtures/choruses. :)

thanks for the video, it was really interesting. i just started skating and i got risport antares second hand and they fit but not perfectly. I will probably have to get professionally fitted for my next pair but I live in europe so shouldn't be too hard. also weird question, did you ever live in america? you have a really strong american accent?

hey don't sweat it, i've heard the first 3-4 pairs are usually your "getting to know" skates where you figure out what you need/want out of them. you're right, getting professionally fitted in EU shouldn't be too hard! best of luck on that! :D i've never lived in the US, but i have a fairly strong american accent from consuming a lot of disney channel/youtube videos growing up lolololol 😂

@@addiesalad Bro I live in EU cuz my country is Poland and there is like 5 shops in my whole country that are actually professional. Depends on the country. There is also only 25 rinks /37mln people in my country. It sucks
