Wow, respect for the humbleness and honesty. Appreciate your time showing us how to set up this welder. I have a MIG 106. I’m reading through the instruction and it doesn’t mention anything about needing a regulator with the gas bottle. Good thing I came across your video so now I know I also need to get a gas regulator.

I bought one second hand for 70 quid the handle was jamming the cable but just changed the screws it’s mint now

Good choice with the Clarke welder. Don't worry about the electrical 13amp supply I've run 180 amps before and not had any problems so long as it is not for a long period of time.

id recommend getting some flat bar and do some test pieces, can get like 2.5m of 5mm thick hot rolled bar from b and q for like 12 quid. can learn overhead t joints, vertical up and multipass welds pretty cheap

A review on my level. Bought this model from machine mart before seeing your vid today. Never welded before & I won't lie, my arse is twitching. Bought to tack tabs on a motorcycle frame and fabricate a battery box. Dont intend doing final welds to the frame, i,ll pass onto a pro to do.

bought one today and unboxed it 5 minutes before I found your video so it was helpful. I heard you say that you purchased this modal as it also does flux core but I'm not sure that it does at least the very basic manual mentioned that the EN models do the gasless versions as they have a short whip cable to change the polarity. I hope I'm wrong can you let me know if you've done flux core.

Well done matey. I’m 58 and am at exactly same stage as you. The worst problem I have is that I have a project I want to get started on and I keep skipping practicing to get cracking on the project...’got to do more practice!!

Ok umm I read the few comments* , has no one actually given you tips on welding process*. While watching your video every 2 minutes I seen something I would like to give you a tip on. I can't say I am a pro welder, but it was my job full-time for 5+ years(5~7 days a week!) and was trained by pro guys(took skill tests, leveled up/raises every 4months) ... Here to help if you want,(wire speed, machine set-up, your handle/grip, prep.) Happy Thanksgiving (yeah I know I am 5months late since the post) .

Great job. Can I ask, when you were welding the 3.2mm, you had a lot of balls flying off? What they because your voltage was too high or your gas not high enough?

Quite possibly a bit of both mate, I definitely didn't have enough gas with that regulator but coulve been a bit too hot aswell

@@keithmabbitt4030 hi ya. No I didn't get a reply. I found a half decent regulator from SIP in Halfords that fits nicely on the small bottles. Cost around £15 I think and much better than the cheap Machine Mart reg.

If you get one just a few quick tips, 1, I used a small amount of ptfe on the bottle thread (maybe not needed but didn't hurt). 2, when screwing the regulator on to the bottle it will vent some gas so screw it on fast (took me by surprise). 3, after using, remove the regulator from the bottle to save it leaking out while your not using it.
