I'm in the same boat as you, and the small is phenomenal on a 6.5" wrist. The large fits okay too, but if you compare, the small size has a more distinctive presence that only a tank can have. People have noticed the small tank from afar and even from just seeing the corner peeking out from my sleeve. Less is more, in the case of the Tank. =)

I tried on the large rose gold manual wind model (6.5" wrist) at an AD recently and it was perfect. The small model is very, very small. The large model, to put it into perspective, still wears like a 33mm watch, so still on the small side. Definitely try before you buy, and make sure its definietly your thing - its got a real vintage vibe to it, and wears like a vintage dress watch.

I did I actually bought both and returned the smaller one. I'm not sure exactly how small my wrist is, but I'm pretty skinny for 6'0 145lbs, but the small size was just so small on a man it looks childish. So in my opinion the smaller one is more elegant on women
