In this video we unbox A Technics DCC RS-DC10 and restore it with a new Read - Write Board, Recap the PZ-03 Board and replace the Pinch Rollers and Belts. Unboxing like it is 1992.

Bought one of these new after buying the philips, paid 999 Aud for the philips dcc900 , and 50% off the technics for 499 aud in 1992, loved that machine looked better than the black philips, same technics brown casing, like the AA series, had to let it go when the heads started playing up, cost 600 aud to repair, not many parts available in Australia back then, so had to let it go.

Lots of vintage audio from Japan was beautiful and there was a lot that came out in the 80’s and 90’s. In Japan they have large vintage store that sell vintage audio and they have lots bc it originally came from Japan. And many models that weren’t e exported outside of Japan. I’m amazed with these ppl. tgat know how to fix and what needs to be replaced.

If it follows the same Technics serial structure as their turntables, the first digit (2) is the year and the letter after it (I) is the month. That would mean it was made in September 1992.

Move and I have a Kenwood mini system with the blue light on the end of each component that I bought new and never opened and in my storage. It wasn’t cheap when I bought it and back in 1999 when I was obsessed with mini stereos and had like 7 of them. I hope the capacitors are still ok. Back then they didn’t make many with the blue light on the end and only a few high ends did that.

They should open up more shops that sell vintage audio and repair shops to save them from being dumped. Bc were just seeing a small fraction of what was made bc ppl. threw them out when something minor was broken bc they didn’t want to get repaired and have ppl. an excuse to buy the latest version bc these audio companies were always coming out with something new that you had to have back then.

I love what you are doing with some if these machines, but leaving units sealed in the box is absolutely insane, especially when you know they are just being destroyed by leaking caps. 😥

That is a valid point. However, as long as you do not plug in the unrestored player, the problems can be solved. When plugging in before restoration, the acid leaking will cause the real damage. With the new read write board, the repair is also easier. This apart from the desire, by some collectors, to have unopened NOS items. We all learn as we go along.

I worked at Onstream for a few months. Until it went belly up as well. The remnants of the DCC debacle. I still think it was a development destined to fail when Sony launched Minidisk (of which I owned 2 and own one still (MZ30) and it still works.

I would say because the first digit in the serial number is a 2, it was made in 1992. (Pure speculation of course)
