2023 was an exciting year for the beloved GMT Master II because, for the first time in many years, the collection was once again available in yellow gold - both in full gold and two-tone options. Previously, if you wanted to add a newer-model precious metal GMT to your collection, Everose and Everose Rolesor were your only options.
The collection is returning to its roots by adding a precious metal finish that should have arguably never left the Rolex catalog.
THE JUBILEE BRACELET RETURNS
Die-hard collectors were also pleased to see the return of another iconic GMT Master duo: the 5-piece link Jubilee bracelet and yellow gold. You might be surprised to hear that the Everose and Everose Rolesor models were only produced on the three-link Oyster bracelet. Bringing back the beloved Jubilee bracelet in yellow gold (and two-tone) was a long-overdue and very welcome surprise at this year’s show.
So far, the yellow gold and two-tone models are only available on Jubilee bracelets. Only time will tell if Rolex adds the option for an Oyster bracelet to the lineup as well.
NEW BEZEL: Black and Grey
Ref. 126713GRNR also ushered in a new bezel colorway for the Rolex portfolio, black and grey. The dual-colored insert is more than a cosmetic design element. It also distinguishes between AM and PM hours for our globetrotting friends and, of course, harkens back to the original GMT blueprint from the 1950s.
The all-black ceramic bezel has been absent from the GMT Master II lineup since ref. 116710 was discontinued. So, it was understandably disappointing for many collectors to see yet another two-tone bezel instead of the triumphant return of the all-black bezel. However, many argue that the subtle tones of the grey half of the bezel have an all-black appearance in the right light.
NEW WATCH, SAME AMENITIES
With so many buzz-worthy upgrades, it’s easy to forget the men’s Rolex 126713GRNR also boasts other staple GMT amenities, such as longer-lasting Chromalight, scratch-resistant sapphire, and a Triplock screw-down crown with three waterproof sealed zones.
It also houses the celebrated caliber 3285 Perpetual movement, complete with Rolex’s patented Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, Paraflex shock absorbers, and an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
The pre-owned Rolex GMT Master II 126713GRNR price varies, depending on condition and availability.
