The time I was in Los Angeles on year 1994, one day did make a visit at Associated, thanks to the lady owner I could make a visit to all the factory and gave ma a nice t-shirt which I still have of course.

As an owner of an original WC RC10 (yes, purchased it NIB, sometime in '94), I'll have to agree that it's in an era of the best looking buggies to ever be produced. You'll enjoy the build and having it in the collection for years to come.

The nostalgia market of 40 something year old males with disposable income has to be huge, they should absolutely take advantage of it. Personally I am in the market for 80s styled buggys and more choice is always a good thing. Retro style with modern running gear so we can throw in a 3s without melting things

Nice Grab Brother!! I owned this car when it first came out, built it and won my first race with it, a month later the track closed and I sold it. I thought it was the best 2wd buggy I ever drove at the time, coming from the Traxxas TRX-1 buggy, which was pretty good too. Now years later, I built a Losi 22 Elite , which made those old buggies seem look like a Toy R Us special,,, lol Amazing how far they have come!

I enjoyed the unboxing and it brought some fond memories of visits to the hobby shops in the U.S. when the gold chassis first came out.The shop owners would take am RC10 hold it shoulder level and drop in it on the floor to demonstrate it toughness as compared to other r/c buggies. Being an r/c historian you probably know this. The 1988 Clint Eastwood movie, "The Dead Pool," featured an r/c car with a bomb in it chasing Eastwood around the streets of San Franciso. It was a black chassis RC10 with a Corvette Sting Ray body driven by Jay Halsey. It would be neat to see you build a replica.
@mikeupton54062 жыл бұрын
Yes Jay Halsey built the R/C cars used in the movie Sudden Impact. Jay had to go back and slow down the cars for some of the scenes. If you were around Los Angeles at this time and going to the R/C tracks if you saw a sweet red Chevy S10 flairs and skirts with the license plate JamnJay, word on the street was he bought the truck with the money he made from building the movie cars.

Nice👍👍.. As far as re released cars go.... I am glad that they have done them as it's given us a chance to get and build cars that back then were more than likely out of our reach but i do think that it should be for a limited number or time.. but then saying that you would get people buying them in bulk and selling them off at extortionate prices...

It’s a thing of beauty. Can’t wait to get stuck into mine and get it running. Not sure how much you know about B2/B3’s but there’s only minor changes between to two buggy’s the B3 was like a B2 update. They share many same parts. It’s the B4 where it starts to change a lot more even though it’s still rear motored unless you got an x-factory or centro mid motor conversion kit. Anyway looking forward to the build :)

It would be nice if they kept some of the older ones around. They're classics, and very cool from a design standpoint. If I could buy a new gold pan RC10 (or a new 1/10 JRX2 kit if Losi/Horizon reads this), I would in a heartbeat. If model kits can be kept around for decades, why not do the same with R/C cars? Tamiya seems to have caught on to this, with the Wild Willy 2 and Hotshot re-releases. Hopefully, they'll stick around for a while longer. That said, I wouldn't knock the B3. It may be the last fully USA developed and built RC10 and is pretty cool in its own right. 3rd party manufacturers like J Concepts have re-released the body, and new wheels to work with 2.2 tires. My Factory Team B3 drives like a dream, but it would be nice to see better parts availability. $60 for a tiny plastic bumper, for example, is crazy.... but I still want one to keep it pristine.

I love the idea of rerelease stuff , my Kyosho rere cars are awesome, I'd love to see the chassis and bits of the CC kit be done with non-clear plastic or something, for another version of the RC10 that wouldn't take too much away from vintage values....maybe it would help there be parts around for more to be revived... I've thought about a CC kit, then leave off the clear bits and source runnable bits, for a "silver pan" runner.... do you think there is enough current parts around for that to be easily accomplished? I'm not at all tied to it being period correct or anything, aftermarket would be totally fine if it's serviceable for a runner ... Would love to see an RC10T rere as well. Cheers

I think rere's are great in theory, BUT at least in North America it has been a dumpster fire frustrating mess. There is a certain company... that will advertise for months about a upcoming Rere and the shops/distributors will take preorders and then they sell out before the container hits the dock and some people do not get their preorder and have to wait for the future shipments which can drag out months. But if for some reason a few get sprinkled around the shops you had better have money in hand and buy right then. Because it will be relegated to backordered oblivion. And if it's "limited edition" forget it. It was already gone before you were aware of it being rere'd. And there is even more fustrations in store even if you did win the lottery and got your model before your kids grew up and moved away and your pension started. Spare parts. LOL FORGET IT. Even if the US warehoue website shows it in stock you hit the order button go to electronic check out and BACKORDERED. Last week I gave up on finishing someone else's half finished restoration project because I hit the same wall they did, lack of parts. Certain warehouse website shows it in stock. Till you order it. 50USD in parts. Found them on extortion bay for 200. Out of the question. The up side to rere's Optimal and Optima Mids. They sent enough for everyone. Got mine through Amain, boom! in the office three days later. Parts? Why yes we do! And actually the rear motor Optima which was the one I wanted seems to not be that much more that when they were first run on the shelf. I hope everyone has had better success than I have with that one manufacturer. I know, it's just me...... So four fails for kits and parts from one outfit and nothing but sweet gooey goodness from their competition down the street. Reres have a place absolutely,

That new losi jrx2 small scale was as they said put out in 1/16 scale so the vintage team losi jrx2's values wouldn't be messed with. . However in team associated's case doing the somewhat limited runs is good but .. could backfire financially as limiting a run might lose them money... Something team associated has done as a sideline with the RTR RC market has fluctuated their financials .. .. I'd like to see them drop their first 4wd buggy.. the B44... For tamiya it would be some Ferrari bodies on the TC -01.. or the group c chassis ....
