The RB10 got me back into the hobby after decades away. Great car and I think you will be surprised how competitive it can be for club racing. Modified mine to run 4S for fun over the field but the original ESC and motor now propel my Tamiya Fighter Buggy RX Memorial. The XP120 transmitter and receiver work well but I found the range wasn't as good as the DumboRC X6/X6FG set-up I use in most of my cars now, so I swapped it out. For racing the range will be fine though. My RB10 hasn't broken a single part and I have used it hard. Really looking forward to how they both compare. Keep up the good work fellas. Down to you two that I got my Brushless Zorrow.

My lad has been running an RB10 for just over a year. I'd recommend changing the shock oil as they were poorly bled out of the box. Also, fitting B6 shock caps makes bleeding a lot easier. The servo is pretty slow, so has now been changed. As mentioned by another commenter, it's quick enough on outdoor astro, particularly if it's wet, but indoors on carpet, the mid-motor cars are untouchable.

The RB10 will probably get a boxing lesson but it will be interesting to see the comparison! These clubs for me personally take it way to serious nowadays though and you need a small fortune. I raced in the 80s with first my Frog then Fox, then entered the 4wd world with my Boomerang all on a shoe string and won some silverware and it was big time fun but still competitive in a stress free way! Anyway your two buggies are great buggies in there own right looking forward to seeing how you both do! Great stuff chaps😎👍

Really like the look of the RB10, last time I drove a rc car was about 1990 and I was completely addicted to this hobby when I first got a Tamiya Hornet for Christmas way back in the early 80s. I then went on to race a modified Mardave Meteor that I still have in the loft at my parents. I somehow recently came across a KZbin video on rc cars that really peaked my interest again. Would have loved to have owed a RC10 back in the day but obviously funds did not allow. But I am rather tempted to the RB10 it looks a nice build, would probably get a replacement body I could custom paint. I don’t plan to race it just have it to drive locally and re live some of those old memories and own a car I once lusted over…

Loving the content boys 👌 I get that some people don't enjoy the build process...... me, I love it. The extra expense with the kits is a massive thing aswell. Keep an eye on MB Models, they regularly have good money off premium kits. The week before Christmas I bought myself a Yokomo yz2 cal3.1 for £220!!! Just coz I'm gona have another try at 'racing' this year 😳🤔👍 Could really do with finding a practice track but hay ho 👍 Thanks for your time, keep it up 👌

The RB10 can totally hold up on a club level, the lower the traction the better it'll do. Make sure you get as much front weight bias as you can, you should be able to squeeze both the esc and a shorty into the battery tray, that'll help a bit with the left/right balance too. On the B6.4 you NEED to replace the front bulkhead with a brass or steel one. The plastic one will break very easily and it's a nice way to add more weight on the front while keeping the CG very low. For the rear tires, if everyone says Cactus, it'll be the Cactus, especially on carpet. If you're hitting up astroturf tracks as well the Mezzos are great, keep the fronts the same. If it gets wet you'll be looking at the silver compound instead. Also, for the Schumacher tires you can just buy them pre-glued, haven't had a single one come apart yet.
@PopalongRC Жыл бұрын
Cheers buddy great info
@VestedUTuber10 ай бұрын
"...the lower the traction the better it will do..." That's the case with every car designed to actually be driven off-road, as opposed to these racing kits that might as well be touring cars at this point. Dirt is THE great equalizer, as it makes car setup and design less important and car control and driving skill more important. Carpet has screwed up 1/10th scale racing.
@matts3690 Жыл бұрын
I guess my advice for jumping in cheap/in hindsight is buying an old race buggy is the best bet. I say that as I am currently building a 1/8 scale buggy for a muck around/maybe race car.
@PopalongRC Жыл бұрын
I can make a case for and against that…. I have got some great second hand cars for racing but equally I’ve ended up with some shocking cars and spent so much fixing it that I should have just brought new. If you can visit a club and see the car and intend to run it at the club you will be more likely to get a safe buy than an online sale as that is a bit of a lottery..
