Zfast4y0u the model in that video was an early engineering sample, the guy in the vid said that it was using the thinner 2070 and 2060 chassis to cool a 2080, thus explaining the high temps. Hope that helps you ;)

Sorry all. I am returning mine legion y740 17 inch due to severe backlight bleeding n software issue. Also bios failed to upload after several attempt. I am going back to Alienware. So i ordered Area M51 with 2060 OC edition. Thanks.

seems like this laptop is for both gaming and content creation. with that i9 cpu, 64gb and rtx 2080 it can chew up 4k vid rendering with ease.

I would enjoy having 128GB RAM for app development to be able to load up all the necessary libraries into it for faster compilations at various developer events like hackathons. 4K is good for reading code. Top-level GPU is good for VR development.

Some people need 64gb of ram to edit and export 4k videos without problems, also to perform several activities that consume a lot of resources at the same time, so if there are people who need that 64gb of ram and why would not one of the most powerful laptops have it? the whole market? Upgradable wise was very promising but the architecture was (almost futureproof). As for the design, definitely does not score highly on that area. Compared to other laptops, the small bezel is definitely not anywhere close to high-end manufacturer brands in 2019. Truthfully, by 2020-2022, this laptop will be behind on functionality, especially related to dual screen, touch screen, sensors and gestures. Battery life, definitely not as portable. Right now, it is definitely the first but not the first to make a promising breakthrough for what it is worth.

Cool beast but let me tell you, you are not going to be able to overclock both the graphics card and CPU to the limit with a 330w power supply, it will powerthrottle. I know Alienware said the CPU can be overclock to 5.2ghz without any throttling. But that is probably when the GPU is doing nothing. Trust me I have an Alienware m17x r4 with i7 3920xm and gtx 1070 and using 2x 330w power supplies. When both are overclocked they can draw 500w. Clevo knows that, they have made both a 780w psu and a dual psu adapter for their laptops.

Because with all COMPANIES they DON'T make the WHOLE THING WHITE!!! it's always white and whatever other color. Even the bla k on this ISN'T ALL BLACK...its dark Grey and Grey.... SMDH! the only way to get your machine the whole color you want it is to take it to a place that will take it apart and spray it one color.... For $3k...i shouldn't have to do that!

I don't think so the 180 w is the more mobile one but you won't get the full potential of the pc (won't be able to use GPU), the 230 w ( I believe it is ) is just to use everything

I'm using a AW 13 OLED with a graphics amplifier (2080 egpu) - works best for me. The screen is stunning and you get the mobility, plus the internal GPU 1060 is pretty good for most games too. I think the Area 51m is more suitable for people that need no mobility. If you need a TON of CPU power for rendering/video processing/etc or just big on benchmarking and pushing hardware to the limit - it might be a good choice for you. But if all you need is a lot of GPU power to play games - there are plenty of alternatives, better ones too. And don't forget, that in order to make use of all that power, your 51m needs to be repasted, undervolted and tweaked (fan profiles, AC cooling).

I've moved away from gaming powerhouse laptops. They are crazy expensive, less performant than similar or even less expensive desktops and have limited to no upgrade-ability (also there is no such things as a "fully upgradeable" laptop). Of course if you NEED such a powerful e laptop for the kind of work you do, then non of that matters. You need what you need. If you have more than enough income and easily get all the toys, then why not. Otherwise, a powerful desktop and a affordable get the basics done laptop is the option I've moved to.

For max FPS while gaming. 4K gaming is still too difficult for GPU's to render at triple digit FPS and in order to take advantage of the 144hz screen it has, they have to limit the resolution... Pushing that many pixels would drop the frame rate significantly. 1080p @ 144hz is a sweet spot for a 17" hardcore gaming machine.

Plus it's not very portable because you have to carry 2 power adapters now. My 15 r3 is still performing well and it's portable with ONE power brick lol.
