In today's video, we're taking you step-by-step through how to assemble a RuggedSplit 700-series log splitter. The kit comes complete with almost everything you need. You only need to add hydraulic fluid, engine oil, and grease. The log lift on this model makes it super easy to get those larger rounds up into position.
The horizontal “push-through” design makes for a high production rate. Features like the option to mount the log lift on either side and positioning the hydraulic tank to give you lots of room to stand next to the beam make this the most ergonomic model we have ever offered. Just finished assembling my splitter. Took a while but the video helped. Mine did not come with the pipe tape but no big deal. A couple of suggestions to make it go smooth. 1) have a vice or second person when assembling the valves together. They are heavy and awkward to handle. One side wants to loosen when tightening the connecting pipe. Extra hands help to hold pipe wrenches. 2) place the Allen head bolts in the valve stand before mounting the valves to the stand. One of my Allen bolts didn’t want to go in, it was hitting the connecting pipe on the two valves. 3) There’s a metal witness cover on the pump. Take that off when mounting the pump to the engine or you will never get it aligned on the shaft.

I just completed my assembly of my splitter this weekend and this video is excellent. Only one suggested edit for this video. When the splitter in this video is finally fired up and shown in operation for the first time there is hydraulic oil dripping from your valves. I recommend tightening up and reshooting this portion. It is an awesome splitter and it should be presented working as designed without oil dripping near the levers.

great video. 👍 good directions. If you ever update it for new customers, show the orientation of lower valve platform more clearly, and the recommended/required angle for each 90⁰ fitting. Instead of saying "oh where you think it should be." Not a big deal just sayin. But hell yeah man. Good instructions

Wish all bolts were labeled. Having a hard time discerning what is the right bolt to use??!!! I am at installing the log lift and hope I’m using the right hardware. I need help now!!!!!!!!!

This is obviously smaller engine but the only real difference is there being 4 bolts instead of 2.

@@RuggedMade I was able to download the instructions for assembly and now have a wonderful new tool in my arsenal, I must say that not just some people don't have the internet connectivity in their barn or garage, but most. And, as a further observation I can say that most people don't build their splitter in a studio with every lift and/or hoist you could need. Your guy makes it look very easy indeed to accomplish the build and no doubt he's very good at it. I had trouble figuring out a lot of it because I don't do this all the time. I really think some printed instruction would be an extremely big help to the amateur assembler.

I bought the same model 2 yrs ago and paid $3,800 and I was shaking my head at that price 😂 All kidding aside, it has been absolutely flawless and will handle whatever our 80 acres throws at it. It’s very well built.
