This unit does a great job for me. Used it a heap of times and never let me down.

i grabbed the titan extenable one. wired. 50 quid. and its half decent but weighs alot! so my arm is fukt after a good 20 foot long 12 foot heigh bush. so ive just found this model on ffx and paid in 3 with clearpay. its the lightweight and battery option that i bought it for.

Brought one of these just today based on ur video. Its exactly what i was after and was able to temper my expectations from ur video. Sure its not gonna win any races but perfect for going up a ladder and cutting new growth on an obscenely wide hedge!

Hopefully it'll do the job David 👍

Have since used the cutter a couple of times. It does seem like the rubber band powering it is not big enough. However it's best virtue is it's ultra light weight and extra long reach. It is great for hard to reach bits. Only for finish twigs really...

great comparison, and valuable input regarding cutting power also. cheers mate!

Nice video. Hey whats the difference between the dun461 and dun500? Which do you prefer? Tnx a lot.
@yorkshiresnumero2gardener2443 жыл бұрын
The DUN500 is a much better quality machine with more cutting power- even though both 18 volt. I used the DUN461 today- it is a bit of a domestic machine with not alot of power- 15mm Pyracantha was too thick for it. The only sturdy part is the alloy shaft. The extension is good. I used it on Privet mainly- fine on this years growth but slowish. Worth it for £120. Not sure if gearing will last. However the DUN 500 is in for repairs with electrical fault. Despite this- DUN 500 though is far superior. If the 461 was built to same standard it would be great. Thanks👍

@@yorkshiresnumero2gardener244 Does the DUN461 extend out further than the DUN500? From what I can tell comparing your video to the DUN500 on the Makita page, the DUN461 has a greater reach?
@yorkshiresnumero2gardener2443 жыл бұрын
@@JohnGreco1 yes- the 461 extends a bit further. If i get chance over weekend i will measure. 461 is very light, extends easily- just very poor on power!! I use it for odd bits that i can't reach with the 500. It would be hard work doing anything substantial with it- prob would end up getting v annoyed with slow progress...
@bidders772 жыл бұрын
the same happened to my 500, sent back and they replaced the stator and a few other bits. gotta love the makita service. So 6 months on how do you feel about the cheaper one?
@yorkshiresnumero2gardener2442 жыл бұрын
I sort of like the cheaper one- it's very light, easy to adjust the length- ok for those hard to reach bits on top of the hedge. Only really any good for new growth on privet and similar thin stemmed stuff. Blades jam up easily. It's ok for the money and saves the arm ache from the petrol machines.👍

Great I know to get the other model

The unit seems very underpowered to my ear - I have the normal handheld hedge trimmer that runs on 36v … which is amazing. I think the new model pole hedge trimmer, model XNU02 looks more powerful as it’s brushless and has 3 speed controls. Also, cuts thicker material with a longer blade (24inch). Obs more expensive too.
@yorkshiresnumero2gardener2442 жыл бұрын
Yes it's only good for very thin new growth. Good points are it's very light and good reach- easily adjusted. The other model you mention is similar to the one pictured next to it. I think different model name in UK. It is defo more powerful. Thanks
