I would just like to thank you for posting this video. I bought a hoist similar to this one but the instructions that came with it were total garbage. The video they also had on their website was also not very good and left me frustrated. Your video changed all that. You were very clear in your instructions and your camera angles were good as well. Thank you so much for this video, you obviously know what you are doing!

That tie to get the rope around the bolt is genius, and that was the one weak point I've been terrified about! Going to do that to mine tomorrow. Also, unfortunately when hanging mine, the manufacturer doesn't account for 12' ceilings, only 8'. So I ran out of rope! One of my ropes is way too short so need to go get some more, and re run some new rope, along with that awesome safety loop around the bolt! Glad I watched this. Thank you!

One thing I'll point out, and perhaps you just didn't do it, is you can use a section of rope between the 2 claws to essentially tie them to the exact length of where you want them to stay when it's strapped into the kayak to avoid a potential slippage of the straps off the front of back of the kayak. That make sense? I used a 6' section of rope. There is one hole in each claw where you can attach the rope. It's great piece of mind.

Great idea--- I would do this when I had to lift my sailboat because of the forward keel's abrupt angle. thank you for that hint!

Great vid! Thank you😉 I’m mounting mine this weekend. I will be mounting below drywall and into a 2x4. The instructions say to use an additional 2x4. Is this really necessary?

the kayaks are not really heavy and the roof rafters should be enough to handle the weight, they worry about legal issues coming back on them--- I suggest to use your better judgement. I crossed rafters to facilitate the positioning of my kayaks. best of luck mounting your kayak---Don

make sure you get a good anchor into your rafters so they can't pullout.

@@donaldporta Thanks for your quick reply. I went to Home Depot and bought some heavy duty Lag Bolts, also, a heavy duty nylon 1/4 " rope. I heard that the rope supplied started fraying after time. Do you think this would do the trick? Thanks for your input. I'm still wondering if I should use the 2x4 for extra support. The reason being is I might have to mount kayak the opposite way of rafters or joists?

Thanks for the video Donald. Could you tell me the distance from the ceiling joist to the bottom of your kayak when fully lifted? I may have a space issue and would love to know before mounting this to my ceiling. I have the kit in my garage now, but would love to know this info. Thanks in advance.

I'll let you know as soon as I can measure it--- I won't be at that garage for a couple more weeks.

I believe the directions say 6-8 ft not 6'8"
@42Slab5 жыл бұрын
Actually it's 6' - 10 ft so it can handle a sizable boat.
