What are those phone holders on your belt loop? They look so clean

I use OtterBox Defender phone cases and they come with a belt clip holster.

Good video going through the steps. I've played around with Davinci Resolve for a free video editor and it looks promising. Years ago I was on Sony Vegas but I don't want to pay for a license any more.

Thanks for watching! I’m glad you liked the video. I tried Resolve years ago. I don’t remember why I didn’t stick with it. I should try it again. If I start making more videos more often, I guess I can pick up my Premiere Pro subscription again.

Love the video. First time here. 50% of the stuff you said i have no clue. However, I enjoyed every second of it. What is the avg size of these servers? And what size rack do you have? I just got into building my first rack server is 24x24x30 and got a 1u server for plex. I want to get few power edge servers and notice that most dont fit my rack. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Hey, good luck with your project. Will sub. Take care.

I think they are usually 27" for the 1U and 28" or 29" for the 2U, quick google will tell you. If you didn't get an adjustable rack, I'd look at shorter Supermicro servers.

Hey, thanks for watching! I’m glad you liked the video! I would go for an adjustable depth 4 post rack. I like TrippLite racks. I’m not sure of the dimensions of mine. It came used and preconfigured the way I got it.

You need a rack kvm.

Yes, definitely. I want to do that soon.

How power hungry?

They aren’t low power machines at all. I can’t remember what the average consumption is. I think 2-3 amps at idle.

Fyi ZFS is memory intensive for every there needs to be 1gb ram for every TB because Truenas uses zfs and zfs uses memory for caching also running iscsi over 10gbps would be very ram/ proc intensive enjoy your videos and relate to cramped space my server rack is right next to my main workstion

Thanks for the info. I should be good starting out. I’ll probably want to upgrade down the line.

The 1GB per 1TB rule is really for people using the ZFS deduplication feature which most don't or heavy VM users. ZFS definitely likes RAM though and you will see high usage but this is mostly just the ARC cache which frees up when applications need memory similar to how the Linux kernel uses RAM. In general the more RAM you can throw at it the faster it will be given the increase in ARC size but there's no real rule saying you have to have a certain ratio.
