Thanks for the review. I received my pen now and the medium nib I got is spectacular. Buttery smooth and wet out of the box. I do not know yet if there will be dry out issues in the future, but the first impression is very good. This seems to be a very good value for the price considering this is Titanium and German nib. It also feels very well made and substantial.

I have had my J16 for a couple of weeks now. Mine had a nib and you are correct. This pen is absolutely fantastic. The only potential downside (large and heavy) is a plus for me so nothing but A grades on this pen. Great review Doug!!!! Now I wanna get some of that Edlestein ink you're using.

hi doug...totally right on the 601 metal section and bobby bent nib...you made me get the same configuration as yours...now adays you can find them already in that setup from etsy...my #8 broad gold nib on the 630 is also one of my favourite pens ever. the best bargain i ever made. you cant even buy a steel cartridge/converter from italy with the same amount of money these days...makes you wonder...anywaysss...Asvine has been putting out great pens lately...thank you for taking a couple for the team...you help me keep my wallet semi intact...lol...happy weekend and lookong forward for tomorrows resurrection sundays.

Great review. I’ll be interested in your thoughts on the V60. Mine is amazing. Got it in yellow/gold with a broad long knife nib. Compared with the Omas 360 or 360 magnum it’s almost perfect. Much better than the pen it copies

Oh no, I’ve got a V60 incoming and now I’ll have to order a J16 to soften the blow. Others have generally been complimentary about the V60, so it will be interesting to hear your views on that Pretend Omas Scribbler.

My ēnsso Italia is one that will never leave my collection. This will certainly be a welcome addition to my collection. Interesting. The Kanwrite Mammoth X I ordered had arrived a few days ago. Its a big pen, but just slightly shorter/narrower than my Ranga Model 5. That #9 nib in the Kanwrite is massive, and noticeably larger than the #8 Titanium in my Ranga. It is a really smooth writing nib and it's very juicy, and capable of laying down a good amount of ink. I do like my metal pens as well since I have a Namisu Nova, an ensso Bolt & Piuma, a Gravitas Dinkey in Tungsten with a copper grip section, and today the Gravitas Quark in Stone Washed Zirconium arrived today.

Oooooo Shiney I'm not a fan of metal grip sections I have one of them and it erks me out everytime I need to unload it ... but if you say its nice I might have to see if anyone at the pen club has one I can feel :)

I have an Asvine J16 with a fine Jowo nib, and same as yours: very smooth with almost no feedback. It is a very nice writer and my daily carry these days. The pen is not that heavy, as you mentioned, considering an all metal construction and it sits very well in the hand: it just feels like a perfect and natural fit in my hand. I am amazed at the engineering that went into it as I don't consider the J16 a mere copy of the MB 146. As you mentioned, it is all titanium and to have a pen that feels just right somebody must have spent some time making sure that it would be a "writer" and not just a paper weight to leave on the desk. Kudos to Avsine!

It is kinda surprising what you say. I also have a bottle of Golden Lapis, and it has clogged each of the three pens I have tried it on: Kaweco Sport Double Broad, TWSBI Vac 700 Broad and TWSBI Swipe Medium. They all have clogged the same day they were inked, and neither wrote even two full pages. So, I am frustrated. Though, I agree, that ink looks beautiful on the paper.

Interesting. I've had it in my Pilot e95s and it only stuttered briefly. I dipped the nib in some water and it has continued on with no issues.

I do like how the ink looks on the paper, but even after forcing a few drops through the feed, they would write wet for a few words and then stop writing. I did not try dipping the nib on water, I'll see if that helps. Thanks.

Thank you for the excellent review. I have this pen with the Yowo F nib, and it is a joy to hold in the hand and writes effortlessly, silky smooth with just the right wetness and no skipping, requiring no tuning at all. I’m not usually a fan of metal pens, but this one is in a class by itself. I was surprised to find the brushed titanium finish is not slippery at all. (I don’t think they will be selling many with the mirror finish.) Can you give a web site for your nibmeister Jack Hernandez and a recommendation for where to get Yowo nibs?

Is your pen the bright or the brushed titanium? You mention "brushed" in the video, but the pen looks like the bright finish (but it could be down to your lighting).

Thanks for the review! I'm on the hunt for a pen to use every day and with arthritis being an issue, it needs to be a bigger sized pen. This pen falls into that category I'm guessing. Has this the makings of being one of your favourite pens overall? It's more on the pricey side but sounds like it is worth every penny.

It hits the sweet spot between the MB149 and MB146 sizes and has some good heft and ink capacity. The nib is the selling point though.

There is also a sort of new p136 labeled Majohn Titanium Alloy Ti-136 'Brushed Version’. But your Asvine J16 Bright Titanium looks like the highest sister who plays basketball.

I’ve got the Ti P136 in the ‘hammered’ texture. It also comes in polished and brushed finishes. I have no doubt this Asvine is a good a pen as their others-all my Asvines are excellent pens. But I prefer the gold trim on the Ti P136, this Asvine is a little too monotone for my taste.
